I have been working at Lockheed Martin (Less than a year)

    Pros

salary, technology, job security, career opportunities and opportunities to travel and transfer within the company, aspects of the job are very dependent on division and program- each is very different.

    Cons

The bureaucracy and politics can be a little bit much at times. Also, the plant that I worked at had gross cubicles and dirty office facilities but the manufacturing plant was very clean.

    Advice to Management

I would say that they should try to promote young people sooner who deserve it and not let the politics cloud the fact of excellent job performance.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work can be quite interesting, good to get a few things on your CV but generally unbearable.

    Cons

Blame culture, company does not value employees not prepared to give employees what they need to do their job, leaders are complete time wasters, high staff turnover (more than any company i've ever heard of), hypocrital leadership team, no organisation, no prospects, no ethics, poor health and safety and no one seems to do the job they thought they would be doing.

    Advice to Management

Listen and dont tell people they're wrong about their own opinions. Give people feedback, encourage continuous improvement. Value employees.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Super flexible schedule, 9/80 is awesome, the overall projects you work on are cool.

    Cons

Not adapting to millennial cultures that other companies have. Very few fun events and perks. Food options are bland and overpriced, employees have to pay for coffee.

Super easy work. Was not challenged and tasks were meticulous and I felt unimportant, similar to "intern work". Also underpaid compared to my fellow colleages at other companies.

    Advice to Management

Your workforce is changing as millennials replace retiring baby boomers. You need to make sure your culture changes too or else you will not retain top talent. I am not saying you need to have crazy events and free food, but at least change a little bit and offer more perks, especially since positions tend to be underpaid.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity to learn about military aircrafts, and propel towards your goal. Great work ethic and people to help you achieve tasks, if ever needed. No formal training, but provided with help in the first few months to adjust to the new job/ work environment.

    Cons

A bit unorganized at times. Pay increase could be much better

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

9/80 week, new Lockheed management. Stable military and government orders. If the S97 Raider and JMR end up proving to work, the future at Sikorsky is bright. Otherwise, Sikorsky could end up being a one product company eventually, with the CH53K.

    Cons

Low raises, high turnover in engineering. Knowledge base is declining. Bureaucratic. Commercial helicopter sales are in the tank.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving Sikorsky into Lockheed. I would give higher than a 3 rating for Lockheed, but the rating is based on Sikorsky. Consider closing or selling commercial helicopters. One crash can wipe out years of profits.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lockheed Martin does stuff that very few other companies do or are capable of doing. Putting stuff into space is hard. Making stuff work on Mars is hard. Building the next generation of fighter aircraft is hard. But these are a few of the things that the company does everyday. This mission is inspiring. Otherwise...work life balance here is fantastic...very amenable to employee needs to deal with real life.

    Cons

The company is, to some extent, stuck in the mid 20th century with respect to the processes it uses to get work done. Part of this is mandated by the customers that it works with...part of it is self-inflicted. Also...and this is not so much a con as a basic fact...it frequently takes a long time to put some missions into orbit...you can work at this company for 15-20 years or longer and still not see stuff you worked on "in the field".

    Advice to Management

Keep trying to modernize the way we do business...don't be afraid to give more authority to the people in the trenches.
