I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Loyal, hard working colleagues with some of the best minds in the industry. Professional collegiate atmosphere depending on area of the business and programme you are working on. Work / life balance is good with flex-time policies and a culture which acknowledges family commitments and the need to balance.

    Cons

Company is struggling to remain competitive in a changing market. Transformation programmes are as slow to be implemented as one would expect from a huge Corporation; unfortunately this is translating into short term actions such as cost cutting in training, research & development and benefits. Salaries lag behind competitors and continue to fall in competitiveness.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge the impact that cutting investment in people and in R&D is going to have on your talent base and product offerings before it is too late.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, good pay, decent benefits

    Cons

Project management has very limited power but we take full responsibility in the government's eyes when another department drops the ball. Most departments and even managers on your team will do their best to push their work on you. Negotiate a good salary when you are initially hired because HR does not care if you have been with the company for years and are still at the low end of the pay spectrum. HR is no value added and most overhead departments are also no value added.

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing your work on lower level management. I have seen so many managers that are "too busy" that spend hours each day talking about things that aren't work related and taking extra long breaks/lunches. People like me have to pick up the slack and I can tell you with certainty that my seven (7) years experience will be going elsewhere soon.

Allow employees to understand the overall objective of not only the program but the corporation as a whole and how the program relates to that bigger picture.
