    Pros

Good Money , Brilliant benefits, Hard work Good prospect' s if you keep your head down And ignore the politics.

    Cons

Long hrs in the control room . Early starts are from 5.30am in the morning . Which Impacts on family life. & Social life.. Good maternity package. Horrendous work life balance. Working in the control room is very clicky. Your either in or you are out. The Management team within the control room are all bully 's and pick there favourites. If your in fantastic prospects be prepared to kiss butt. On the whole ... think twice about before you enter. Be prepared to watch your back constantly..

I have been working at London Midland

    Pros

A well structure organisation, with a strong corporate outlook, and positive attitude to all its stakeholders.

    Cons

Short franchises do not facilitate improved personal development programs which could vastly improve the workforce.

    Advice to Management

A change in the organisations culture might be a good challenge for senior management in regards to improving the business environment for the future.

    I worked at London Midland

    Pros

    - Great place for a workaholic woman. - Respectful attitude and can-do attitude within the whole company. - Along with respect you are given a freedom to develop and learn. - Have questions? Tight deadlines? Want someone's advice or help? - Simply go and talk to people, ask, consult, voice up your concern. You will be given what you have asked for. - Hard work will be appreciated, mistakes will be talked... through, you will receive plenty of encouragement and support. - No-gossips-chitchats-environment.

    Cons

    - You must work hard. (Party hard is not included) - This is not a come and sit in Facebook for 7.5 hours job. - Sometime you feel sorry for your company being misunderstood by some aggressive passengers, also you might hear people commenting when they know where you work.

    Advice to Management

Keep being supportive, promote a diversity of your staff, invest in their education, please. You might like developing more early-start programs for school leavers.

I have been working at London Midland full-time

    Pros

Too many to list. So much room to have a career. Potential, growth. You can choose how you work. Shifts are perfect if they suit your life. Customer service is my best attribute and that fits perfectly with the company. Money is fantastic and certain roles allow for overtime and high earning potential.

    Cons

5am starts. Midnight finishes. Weekend work. Unsociable hours. As long as you know this going in then its not a problem.

    Advice to Management

I don't know them or get to meet them enough to give an opinion. That makes sense the company is huge. I wouldn't expect to see them too often. I like the aim of the company so agreeing with the visions and values is a good start. Hopefully join the management role at some point.

I have been working at London Midland for more than 10 years

    Pros

Railway travel concessions on this and related operators

    Cons

Little or no communication between levels of management, or between the day to day Control staff and the staff on the front line. Total inability to cope when things go wrong, which they frequently do. Locally based managers are not allowed to make decisions without recourse to head office management, who are frequently not contactable and take so long to make the necessary decisions that the issue has escalated to... a serious problem before they do.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to communicate and manage properly. Allow local management to make decisions.
