    Pros

Good work life balance. Friendly people.

I have been working at M&G plc full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work life balance Flexible working hours/work from home for some people Nice people

    Cons

M&G has changed a lot over the last 18 month- 2 years. It has gone from a genuinely lovely place to work to a place where the majority of people seem stressed and demotivated as a result of being overworked and under valued. Silos and a very unclear structure mean that teams do not know what other teams do and it is not clear a lot of the time who is responsible for what. Young talent isn't nurtured and there... aren't many opportunities within M&G due to a low turnover of older/more senior staff meaning young people use it as a stepping stone. Below average pay and bonuses. M&G refuse to pay you the going rate for your role but when you leave because of this, they pay the going rate to bring someone in. They are also happy to pay for contractors (of which there are many) despite not paying perm staff as they should.

    Pros

Positive Culture, generally a good work life balance, friendly environment, empowering, very progressive in terms of diversity, try hard to communicate

    Cons

Complacency as people never leave - There are many v long term staff on final salary pensions. Not a good payer.

I have been working at M&G plc full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great atmosphere, approachable senior management, openness, opportunities to move internally, as a company M&G is interested in your personal development. 25 days base holiday and private medical cover. The option is also available (recent development) to purchase additional holiday days. Staff are largely friendly.

    Cons

Occasionally hard work is given less reward than those who do not work for it - counterproductive. Budget cuts are more noticeable. Some staff have an 'old' mindset.

    Advice to Management

Don't overburden competent employees. Provide flexibility for employees and encourage personal development for your team.

I have been working at M&G plc full-time

    Pros

Flat hierarchy, collaborative team culture, excellent work/life balance, company is big enough to be a credible market player but small enough for individuals to make a difference

    Cons

Investment staff tends to stay at M&G for many years, which is not a bad thing in itself but can limit upward mobility in certain departments

    Advice to Management

    Try to encourage entrepreneurial spirits

I worked at M&G plc full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great friendly people with lots of 'extra curricular' activities and events - summer party, golf day, softball, movie screenings to name a few. Work life balance is great and most people in ops and IT are out by 5.15-5.30. People willing to help out. Internal mobility possible and many do so, which help add variety to role.

    Cons

Silo team effect where you don't know the team next to you are doing and sometimes cross team collaboration can be challenging. The analyst roles are contained and don't let individuals branch out and diversify unless to change teams or internal transfer. Senior management have chopped and changed team structures too much especially after large redundancy round in Nov 2016. Not enough thought to resourcing issues... and cross portfolio team communications adding to the silo effect at M&G. Relatively new senior management seem a bit too keen to change things dramatically. M&G has changed more in the last 18 months than it has in 18 years....

    Advice to Management

Get more employee feedback on changes even before they are decided. Add flexibility to employees roles and have more cross portfolio communications. Have some informal drop in sessions with non senior employees. Have an open door policy to employees can approach you. Stop changing team structures every year/ few months. Allow ease of mobility between portfolios teams especially if employees are not happy with their... placement.

Nice and friendly environment Well recognised brand on your CV Flexible working hours and good work-life balance Generally, this would be a place where you want to work later in your life when you don't want to focus much on your career and want to have an opportunity to accommodate your work around your personal life.

    Cons

Slow decision making Not many opportunities to progress in your career, especially if you're young Aged technology

I have been working at M&G plc full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great Work Life balance. Values good people. Seen many employees stay for a long career or even return after leaving.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for promotion, usually need to move sideways and develop a new focus. This can lead to young people using the company as a stepping stone.
