      Pros

Macmillan is a company that respects work life balance. Salaries are lower than in other industries but they try to make up for it by allowing employees more flexibility.

      Cons

Macmillan Education has gone through numerous org changes over the last ten years. They seem to emerge every 12-18 months and are quite disruptive to morale and job stability.

      Pros

For a long time a friendly, people-based kind of organisation.

      Cons

With the move to London and being in a larger setting, more office politics and for me more stress and fear.

Lovely People, Terrible Pay (even for Publishing)

      Pros

Lovely people - I think publishing, especially Education, attracts this. Fantastic markets with travel opportunities. Beautiful books that customers love.

      Cons

Terrible pay, much lower than same title at different companies - and much more work expected here. Springer Nature umbrella often neglects MacEd employees. Very few benefits or activities (that don't require payment) to support company culture and make the workplace fun e.g. no team lunches or drinks, no societies (except paid for, so you might as well do these outside of work), no bonus.

      Pros

Some great colleagues in the UK and international regional offices. Often a good collaborative culture and a chance to work on very interesting and rewarding projects.

      Cons

There were too many silos across some departments, which made it seem less team-oriented.

      Pros

Opportunity to Travel and Work/Life balance

      Cons

Dying company with no strategy or business plan led by incompetent middle managers that will use junior employees to take the blame for poor performance and obfuscate bigger issues by nitpicking at minor points
