"Beware If Magellan Acquires Your Company!"

    Former Employee - Administrative

I worked at Magellan Health full-time

    Pros

I have no good things to say about Magellan.

    Cons

Magellan acquires companies, transfers the employees to terrible health insurance that will put you into debt if you ever have to use it, and then lays off entire departments at once. We were acquired 1.5 years ago and lay offs are still happening.

I have been working at Magellan Health full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Company give a very generous PTO and encourages staff to use it to its fullest advantage, no carry over of PTO, enriched insurance benefits, telecommuting encouraged in many areas of the company.

    Cons

Too many roadblocks and difficult to get anything accomplished. Decisions are all made at the upper level and can take many weeks to get something very simple approved. New phone system was installed three months ago and is still not being utilized because of politics.

I have been working at Magellan Health full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Management in the first few years was great; balanced workload, pleasant team members, satisfactory salary, work-life balance great. Never expected to work extra hours without notice - usually a month's notice before large projects were due.

    Cons

After bankruptcy in 2003, slew of middle management laid off and I was ricocheted around from group to group with no clear direction in my career path or expectations for my position.

    I worked at Magellan Health

    Pros

You get all your PTO up front. Benefits are okay. The company tries to hand out rewards here and there. If you are starting out in Health Care a good place to begin. You can learn alot if you choose too. Overall, the jpb paid the bills.

    Cons

Depending on the office your work in it can be stressful work environment. If you are a Customer Service rep, you are pretty much chained to your desk-you have to work off of strict time constraints. Working for this company is the same as any other corporate America company. It is not what you know-it is who you know.
