Pros

The people I used to work with, who eased the trauma ever so slightly by singing and talking so didn't lose my mind

Cons

Umm... everything Having to eat lunch (unpaid ) in the printroom which is the size of a box room Being paid minimum wage Standing all day Working without air conditioning /windows during summer Taking pictures and repeating the same lines again and again Management being strict about clothing when literally every customer treats you like dirt The amount of work you do that actually accumalates nothing The amount of profit/targets you have to meet but make literally nada The people who hurl abuse at you about the price when you legit have no say in price People never listening when you are on capture and stampeding past Having to hear the exact same joke again and again "I look so attractive, I'll let you keep it" pretending to find it funny whilst imagining the different ways you could decapitate yourself. Annoying coworkers who are bad so you have to pick up there slack and sound like radiators or wear blankets to work. Having to fake smile through the pain of knowing that this is the worst job ever.

Pros

Rewards program with great discounts. Real opportunity to move around and work at different sites if you are invested in the company and interested in progressing within it. Personally I worked at 6 different sites. Most colleagues and managers are great and you bond and laugh over rude customers and the simply horrible job you are doing. As well as the magic team you can make friends with people from your host site. So as long as you are an open and friendly person you will be rewarded with a lovely working atmosphere.

Cons

It takes a very specific and strong person to deal with this company's daily practices and not get disheartened by what you are expected to do. This isn't specific to Magic Memories but they are a stereotypical tourism photo company that expect their employees to trick and manipulate people into having photos taken. Although you are not expected to pressure people into buying anything, a lot of importance is put on not allowing members of the public to decline having a picture taken as they are filtered through your capture point. This causes a hostile and awkward environment, as well as a hopeless and desperate one when the public dare to defy and push past you; you are aware you will be in trouble for not taking their picture. As a manager you are expected to make sure your employees are also doing this perfectly, which is challenging when a lot of them are disinterested as they are generally very young, on 0 hour contracts and are being paid minimum wage. You can't expect someone to put in much effort to be exceptional sales person when they are working for pennies and put in an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Pros

Best part of the job for me was the social aspect. Still good friends with a lot of my former colleagues now. I think it’s best of as a summer job or part time whilst studying.

Cons

The salary is basic. Customers can be very rude and at times aggressive but nothing is done about this by management its ‘just part of the job’ Only a short half an hour lunch which is strictly timed and not all sites have adequate eating facilities for staff. I’ve worked at a site where I had to eat on the floor of the office! The job itself can be very tedious and you get all you can out of it after about 2 months.
