      Pros

      Good progression available for stand out staff that want it. 99% of your colleagues are lovely. Staff discount was more than adequate. Great place to learn about tech.

      Cons

      Dinosaur managers that were bitter and unwilling to adapt or leave the business. Almost clueless head office management that get by using "Buzz word" analogies to explain their direction.

      Pros

      - Staff are friendly and overall experience is a great place to work - Been thoughally updated on new products coming into stores and online. - Staff discount is reasonable but not on all products - Team Work and cooperation/communication is great. - Finance and installs are a huge step forward in the business - Staff exclusive discounts from big name brands is a bigee!! - Using boost, fuse and the new RotaGeek is outstanding!

      Cons

      - Pay rates aren’t the best for minimum wage - Now paused hiring more staff and stopped overtime also and it’s coming towards Christmas?! - Bonuses shouldn’t rely on the stores performance, it should rely on your own figures! Individual sales history etc - Some Staff get treated diffently when working, it needs to change.

      Staff discount and your day to day colleagues and helping grow your team.

      Cons

      Poor pay, poor communication, poor divisional managers and unreasonable amount of task with a poor budget only allowing 2 to 3 colleagues working around the clock. Way to many kpi' s and Sales budgets that are way to ambitious. Micro management from other store managers because the divisional manager is way to lazy and also clueless at how each individual store works as he doesn't visit them. Low moral in the division due to scare management in place created by the divisional manager and as a result most of the store managers are leaving and nothing gets addressed. Open your eyes Maplin you used to care about your teams now you don't care who you lose backing a poor system and a poor stock holding, relying now on delivery. Sales are falling, stock is low and staff moral is at an all time low. Fix this before you pass the point of no return.

      Good staff discount. Friendly colleagues.

      Cons

      Senior management bought in from numerous blue-chip companies largely clueless about what Maplin is or indeed how to run the business. Despite ongoing sales decline the top brass were quite content on destroying profit margins further with bloated salaries, pointless vanity projects and an expensive central London office. Pressure from the top was unbearable toward the end verging on bullying - directors screaming and shouting at employees. People in tears and off on stress was a common occurrence. The Northern office was closed recently as a commercial function after effectively being cut-off from any significant support from central London.

      Great staff discount Collegues and senior management are friendly and great to get along with Good work life balance Good training given to

      Cons

      Expecting someone to do way more tasks than they are expected to do on MINIMUM wage is not right Security is lacklustre. Stores are expected to hit high targets but HO don't do anything to prevent robberies and shoplifters Late closing times don't help this as this allows opportunists to try their luck. More staff needed on shop floor to act a deterrent.

      Pros

      Good working relationships with other Managers. Decent staff discount, especially on sale items. Some long standing employees who know the business inside out.

      Cons

      Poor work / life balance. Too many tasks to be completed daily. Constant WhatsApp messages from Senior Management. Weekly conference calls telling you how bad you're all doing. No security in stores - you have to double up as a security guard. Poor pay. Especially for normal sales advisors. Some realise this, and just don't care. Systems are completely out of date. Poor quality CCTV in store, which they refuse to replace.
