I have been working at Marks Sattin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic environment with lots of different people who all work well together - unlike most clicky recruitment companies, Marks Sattin is the right place to work if you want somewhere that means to can just crack on with the support of the management teams without being micromanaged and having pointless KPIS. Excellent perks and commission structure. Great social culture and approachable managers means that Marks Sattin has managed to create the perfect balance which other company's struggles to acheieve

    Cons

Not all offices are 'We Works' like Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin and Reading

I have been working at Marks Sattin full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I have nothing but positive things to say about working at Marks Sattin. From the day I started, everyone took the time to get to know me and have been so supportive. The training and development plan at MS is second to none and they really take the time to develop your skills and grow your career. The atmosphere in the office is always upbeat and productive. The senior management team are always on hand and the MD sits on the same floor so is always there for advice. If you're looking for a place to gain financial rewards whilst working in a fun, friendly environment, I couldn't recommend Marks Sattin enough!

    Cons

None that I can think of

I worked at Marks Sattin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working at Marks Sattin was a wonderful experience and it gave me the fundamental tools necessary to succeed as a headhunter within specialist financial recruitment. The extensive support network, whether it be directors, managers or senior consultants were always on hand to mentor and train me. The friendly atmosphere made the challenging aspects of the job enjoyable and thoroughly rewarding. Great work life balance for anyone who wants to get into recruitment, the brand speaks for itself. The extensive candidate and client base, provides the necessary tools for success. The financial merits are there for anyone who wants to make money, the company is far from a KPI shop. Consultants are treated as individuals and there is a fantastic feeling on the floor. Senior management is always on hand to help and its nice to see the MD - Matt Wilcox is always on hand if you need advice or help. If you want a family felt environment to work in this is the place to be.

    Cons

I honestly can't think of any negatives to say.

"Cliquey, immature and not a place to work long term."

I worked at Marks Sattin full-time

    Pros

-Some really good people without egos during my time there, such as the MD and some Directors - Dave Harvey and Pres to name a few) as well as Aine in Marketing and Monika in Internal recruitment, who were both excellent also. -Bar tab

    Cons

-Lack of women in senior recruitment roles, particularly in the London office. -Some incredibly pompous and condescending principal consultants who treat people really poorly and were regarded by most as annoying. -Commission structure is very disappointing - having to earn high thresholds for the business over the course of 4 quarters, before you start to make any personal commission isn't great for new consultants coming in trying to build a desk and make money. A revised commission structure should be looked at, to allow consultants to make commission on all their placements (possibly at a lower percentage until threshold). -Very high turnover of junior staff, with grads and younger consultants leaving or being managed out of the business quite quickly, so beware if you are a grad coming in. -Little or no cross selling between teams and "top-drawing" of candidates doesn't encourage a collaborative atmosphere. -Lack of splits on placements fees (if a consultant meets and register a new candidate and another team places them, there is no split for the consultant who found and took the time to meet them.) -Very KPI driven environment with outdated things like a call logger of everyone's phone time being emailed round every day and consultants being encouraged to send spec CV's for the sake of it. -One or two very arrogant Senior Managers who are more interested in "banter" and the size of their watches rather than building and developing their people. -Working hours for people in the executive search office are excessive and cause regular leavers. -The business has lost a lot of good people to their rival firm ran by the ex MD of Marks Sattin which is indicative of the direction that the business is going in. -Overall quite a cliquey and immature environment to work in, in many respects, with some people mocked for being a bit different from the typical laddy recruiter that is favoured by the business, which is a real shame.

I have been working at Marks Sattin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have been working at Marks Sattin for nearly 2 years now after 8 years working for another agency. I can honestly say I wished I had made the move sooner. The environment here suits me as I am left to get on with my job without being told every 5 minutes that I need to do more KPI's. The management understand that I know what I am doing and as long as I get the results, I am treated like an adult and left to get on. As well as being rewarded financially for getting the results I have been on almost all the MD's quarterly incentive days out - which are kindly put on and paid for by the business. There are not many organisations you can work in and be rewarded so handsomely for just doing your job!
