    I have been working at Marks & Spencer (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Staff discount is a bonus which 20%. It used to be limited but not anymore

    Cons

    The down side is when is coloured it hard to progress and favouritism to others is unbelievable . You complain head office you become a target..

    Advice to Management

    They should treat everyone equally regardless of their colour or where they come from

    Pros

    Discount is good..Some of the staff perks are rewarding...

    Cons

    Some of the stores have a Through The Night Operation..The Through The Night team were treated like second class tickets.They closed down the catering unit and no hot food could be purchased.They then put in vending machines.if we had contractors working night shifts they would empty the machines before any staff had a chance to purchase them.Over time they also went along with a soft drink vending machine so if staff wanted a cold drink they had to buy it before their shift or bring it in from home..

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the staff..And respect their opinions..After all with out them you wouldn't have a company.

    Staff Discount on food is good

    Cons

    Always want extra hours and little or no flexibility.
    Don't be sick on and temp contract even with a doctors note they ended my contract because of it, and do not care if you wear yourself out.
    clothes still old fashioned

    Pros

    save as you earn and I get a company pension,pay is good and work with some lovely people

    Cons

    no permanent staff being employed any more and lots of people reducing hours so much more to do and so service suffers sometimes and constantly moving products around.

    Advice to Management

    when you come round to look at the stores when we launch any season could you look interested and speak to the staff cause we work hard.

    Twenty percent discount and still get double timr

    Cons

    Not having unions in store and having a big group

    Advice to Management

    Too top heavy with commercial managers, that are all clones
    And the section Co role no longer works

    Pros

    The pay I very competitive, the hours are always good and there is overtime the majority of the time.

    Cons

    There is a lack of staff and we are always short on GM aswell as Foods. The HHT's need updating.

    Advice to Management

    Listen more to store assistants and help more on shop floor instead of sitting in office. This might just be in our store.
