    Pros

Good atmosphere, lovely people. Excellent staff discount available immediately. Flexible hours. Good work structure in the Foods department.

    Cons

Extensive training. Organisational structure is far too big, no need for so many different managers or section co-ordinators.

    Advice to Management

Consult each other when making decisions. Make a decision and stick to it.

I have been working at Marks & Spencer part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All the staff are lovely and welcoming! Felt like part of the team as soon as i joined. It is organised and well structured - never kept behind your shift. The staff section has great facilities and the catering is very cheap (21p for chips!).

    Cons

repetitive work, catering not so good if you're vegan. I contribute a lot to the number of CSAT surveys my team gets and last term we got enough to get the £50 bonus, however i didn't receive this as temps don't get it. Stay on the starting wage for a while even though work as hard as others.

    Advice to Management

only keep the starting wage for a month, let temps have incentives such as the £50 bonus.

    Pros

Extensive training provided. Felt like I could ask for help if needed. Staff very patient with me. Friendly atmosphere

    Cons

Some supervisors were quite aggressive about getting you to hand out customer surveys when you were on the till, which got annoying at times

    Advice to Management

Don't pressure staff too much to hand out customer surveys, just say hand it out to customers you feel you gave a good service to

    Pros

Very good company too work for, everything was very clear and the training prepares you as much as it can for the real thing.

    Cons

Hard to secure permanent contract after temporary role, management are sometimes hard to approach although they are actually quite friendly once you get to know them.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Marks & Spencer part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large and friendly teams, flexibility, varied days.

Definitely a great store to work in for Christmas!

    Cons

Reluctance to place staff on permanent contracts - lack of security. Not much progression - in-store and head office are completely separate.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the positive work culture.
