I have been working at Marston's full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Reasonable salary and good employee benefits, pension/share scheme etc

    Cons

Want blood out of a stone, withholds some overtime owed, struggle to get holidays in, only takes H&S seriously that benefits the company and doesn't listen when it doesn't.

    Advice to Management

H&S on the back of the lorry with loading and picking needs taking seriously

    Pros

    - They're not lying about the ability to move up, you can make a career out of Marstons

    Cons

    - Management do not care about you, this is a given in the service industry but management at my location were rude and easy to brush me off when asking to go part time temporarily for health reasons. - Pay is terrible, even when you move up to supervisor positions - It's at the managements discretion, but we weren't allowed to keep our tips.

I have been working at Marston's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Bar work is fairly enjoyable. Few good members of staff.

    Cons

Constantly looking to cut people when it's not busy while expecting them to hang around unpaid on site in case it picks up. Very understaffed when busy. Cutting the wage bill seems to be the foundation of everything they do. They'll regularly cut the hours of older staff over younger staff as they are cheaper, but I suspect this is illegal.
