Pros

Retirement pension (if as promised, will be good, but this is unpredictable). Nearly impossible to get fired. Low expectations of real productivity.

Cons

Office is completely dis-functional. Management largely unaware of problems within staff. Conflicts between employees frequently involve yelling in public meetings. There is a lack of drive among employees because there are no rewards for risk, only punishments. Sexual harassment has been an ongoing issue. There is a secret "in-crowd" that gets raises when others do not. Various departments compete for money. Important projects go unfunded or ignored. Excellent employees are treated poorly. Pervasive bullying, intimidation, favoritism. Political employees refuse to work and are unaccountable. Show up late, drink coffee, smoke cigarettes then go for a drink during lunch, no one cares. Claims to be inclusive and multi-cultural but racism and discrimination happen frequently.

Lifers Convention - Productivity is lagging

Pros

The Benefits are outstanding, and is the scheduling. People are nice.

Cons

Absolutely no room for advancement. Upper Management has not changed since I started working there in 2000. Salaries remained frozen for 4 years. Limited growth potential. If you have aspirations to lead or manage a team, not the place for you. Lack of movement by upper level managers has lead to a general laziness to pervade the company and all work. There's no sense of mission critical work for any department. Just meanders along.
