I worked at Mazars full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People you work with and meet whilst auditing. The industry exposure is reasonable if you can get allocated a variety of jobs

    Cons

Diff getting exposure to good jobs, end up with odds and sods if your not assigned good jobs at the outset

I have been working at Mazars (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good place to train for the accountancy qualification
Good coverage of large and small audit clients

    Cons

Standardised training/monitoring for middle management would reduce departmental discrepancies
    Poor incentives for new graduates
Staffing at middle management and below is lacking
    Resultant lack of team cohesiveness
    Bad coffee

    Advice to Management

Standardised effective training for middle management

    I worked at Mazars full-time

    Pros

ACA exam fees are paid, reasonable hours and they do try to push you to get the most they can out of you/realise your potential.

    Cons

Lack of trust, them and us culture bergen stag and management, mollycoddling, poor social activities and there's a high turnover of staff after qualifying.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

    Pros

    - Graduate Intake is fun
    - Good Junior Team
    - Can Purchase Annual Leave
    - Work/Life balance good

    Cons

    - You get allocated to a client or two and you seem to be left there till the end of days
    - Appraisal Process is not transparent and progression routes are not clearly defined
    - if you want to change clients this is not possible and forget asking to move sectors
    - Development is not consistent at all is purely dependent on line manager, some will give you time and others will give you none at all and if things go bad the senior management will look to blame staff rather than the training they did not receive from their managers
    - Very high turnover of staff, all of the good managers and staff have left or are actively looking
    - When staff leave the Management become very negative towards that person and will bad mouth them within the team
    - There is no progression unless you are in with certain members of the Senior Management Team
    - Be under no illusion that this is Mazars, this is an offshoot of the main firm with NO movement between.

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff concerns and look at the Senior Management team and how favouritism has benefited some whilst leaving others who deserve it stuck in jobs that they do not enjoy.

I worked at Mazars full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent employer
    Good graduate scheme
    Partners are really friendly
Many social networking event if you want to join
    Support system is good
    Clients can be interesting

    Cons

Some managers can be a little hard to deal with as during busy season they didn't have time to coach seniors/ juniors, but areas they were not happy about might be recorded into your appraisal system depends on your personal relationship with those managers.

    Advice to Management

Try to offer more constructive advice to juniors and seniors on the spot rather than via only appraisal system. Focus more on productivity than system and controls.

I have been working at Mazars full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good for a starter to gain in depth audit experience. Staff especially partner and other top tier is approachable.

    Cons

I believe the salary at Mazars compared to other top firms is low and audit softwares are also outdated comparatively.

    Advice to Management

Management should review the salaries being offered to staff to retain and upgrade its audit softwares as a measure to improve efficiency.
