I have been working at McLaren Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The most iconic UK car brand.

    Cons

Too great a focus on increasing volume, too quickly.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at McLaren Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent opportunities to self-develop, high amount of responsibilities and challenging daily work. Working atmosphere between people is good. Very dynamic working life with high diversity of remits

    Cons

Low salary - effort balance, missing expertise and experience in engineering (a lot learning by doing) leads to chaotic circumstances + enormous time pressure, various processes in production partly missing and quality suffers, impact of corona shows missmanagement of senior management prior corona (1200 of 4000 people redundant). Great marketing hides issues of company.

I have been working at McLaren Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The Design & Engineering teams produce great products.

    Cons

Company has poor work life balance and focuses on volume to the detriment of build quality.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at McLaren Group full-time

    Pros

Brand awareness boost your CV visibility

    Cons

Everything else - work/life balance - management - culture - parts quality - training unavailable - extremely low bonuses - medieval attitude to manufacturing/engineering and quality (firefighting instead of continuous improving and preventing) - not capable to build and maintain healthy and positive partnership with suppliers due to ego issues (unjustified)

I have been working at McLaren Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great brand, amazing products to walk past every day and working in a really cool HQ

    Cons

Poor company culture (bit like an old boys club). Real sense that the company doesn't care about its people, and doesn't reward them either (low pay, very low bonus if any, low salary reviews). Company restaurant is incredibly expensive and bad value for money, and there are no other real options as the office is out of town and you can't drive to town at lunch because you're blocked in the car park! Company seems to have been run really poorly in recent times, continuing with aggressive expansion plans despite being financially insecure, now resulting in mass redundancies.

I have been working at McLaren Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very exciting place to work full of great people

    Cons

Feels like you are constantly facing the same issues, management sees that you did once and that becomes the expectation.

  10. "Trades on glamour and cool-factor to attract people, rather than people focus and benefits"

I worked at McLaren Group full-time

    Pros

Glamourous and cool. Fast-paced and fast-moving. Fascinating place to work, probably a great place to work for world-class engineers.

    Cons

Autocratic culture. The weighting between do-it-now and do-it-well is too skewed towards do-it-now. Lack of people-focus
