I worked at McLaren Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

McLaren group offers a wide variety of work opportunities across its division and progression is possible by moving division. The Technology Centre is pretty amazing as a work place.

    Cons

Having starting its life in motorsport Mclaren can sometimes miss opportunities to learn from other sectors or company to enhance product offerings.

I worked at McLaren Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Fancy name on your CV.

    Cons

Quantity over quality. Cars are dropping to pieces as they leave the factory, I have advised several people not to buy a McLaren. Senior management are hideous, all they are concerned about is getting cars out the door. People on the shop floor are treat like dirt and are given no respect whatsoever. Higher management aren't interested in listening, they're ALL out for themselves and to look good in front of the top brass. Group leaders are have relations with HR and therefore influencing decisions. Career progression is poor unless you suck up to the right people. Redundancy process was horrendous, people kept their jobs because they were pally with certain people yet other genuinely good workers lost their livelihoods. You are never recognised for your achievements, I was involved in several projects which other departments took credit for. Looking back, my previous job at Honda was pretty good. Massive mistrust of management.

    Pros

Amazing headquarters and history at the company (Racing Mainly), good location allowing easy travel, some very smart and competent staff, good restaurant facilities.

    Cons

Poor management with a blinkered approach, lack of investment in training, poor car park situation, some staff with no mechanical or production knowledge building cars, Covid safe guidelines are the bare bones to tick the box and not good enough.

Long hours and the negatives of a small company-more susceptible to financial impact. Processers is not robust.
