Drastically different time zones can make things more difficult. At times you just want to get something done and end up needing to wait until the next day to get an answer from someone. At other times people need to meet across time zones and it may be very early in the morning for one person or late at night for another. Teammates are good at accommodating and trying to share the burden, but it's definitely a factor that comes up with such a distributed team. Working remotely/distributed is less fun than in-person. This of course it just my general opinion on that style of work and differs from person-to-person. It is something to be aware of though if you're thinking about if working on a distributed team is for you.
