I have been working at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Up till September 2015 this place was a joy to work at, after that point the morale plummeted thanks to a misguided restructure that replaced, moved or removed some of the most skilled staff.

    Cons

Salary increases for non-EBA staff once assured to be at or near CPI (cost of living) have been replaced by an entirely subjective evaluation system which was advertised to staff originally as a tool to increase their productivity and aim for acheivements but changed to a performance management system that directly affected salary increases 2 months before it closed for 2016. This left the majority of front line staff with no way to realistically acheive a high enough result to receive anything close to CPI. There is also an issue where there is no ability for an employee to appeal or request review of their results asdecided by their line manager in a 30 minute meeting to complete the performance review process. Staff turnover is extremely high with some departments almost gutted and their replacments aren't able to fill the roles or perform the duties required and this is only for the full and part time staff. There is an issue with rostering of casual staff that has made them less flexible and unwilling to support the business on short notice due to mismanagement in the rostering department. Executive management appear tone deaf to the issues being felt by their respective departments.
