      Care (not so) Deeply

      Pros

Great products. Benefits are decent (Bupa & lots of work events). Some colleagues are a great fun.

      Cons

Singing ‘care deeply’ culture and getting rid of employees at snap of fingers. No career progression. Clueless middle management. HQ marketing leadership has no idea how to run a global business.

Fun workplace, friendly culture, incredible product, mature sales motion, some very talented people in middle management, great benefits from parent company Cisco

      Cons

lack of vision from upper management, increasingly corporate and HR-led culture, increasingly difficult to drive impactful change and receive recognition, some ineffective people in middle management, relatively low salaries for Bay Area

      Sales review

      Pros

There are really good pros at Meraki. Beautiful office, smart young colleagues, free catered food, snacks, dogs, events, every so often management surprises us with little extra treats like ice cream and massages - you name it, its your typical Bay Area tech company perks.

      Cons

If you are in sales be concerned with some managers. The lack of professionalism in middle management really is disheartening and makes such an awesome company so unbearable. If you walk around the sales floor you will notice those with big personalities-management loves these hyper-aggressive machos. You will also hear that "at Meraki, its all about perception". So it's no surprise that all who have been promoted played their cards right. And to top it off, I am certainly not surprised at the sexist comments that has been circulating glassdoor threads, they are very real throughout the sales floor. I know Meraki tries hard to have an inclusive environment, however sales managers really needs a training or two on how to manage people.

      Great Place to Work

      Pros

Great benefits, perks, location and career advancement opportunities. Meraki is poised for explosive growth for years to come. Exceptional executive leadership - however, they are spread thin due to the nature of the role and responsibilities.

      Cons

Lack of structure in some departments and some inexperienced middle management.

Unrealistic Quotas, SEXIST Culture & Poor Middle Management

Mar 11, 2017 - Inside Sales Representative in San Francisco, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great product, of course it has its flaws. But overall, it's easy to sell Meraki products and it works fairly well and most customers love Meraki products once they start using it. The people are fun and friendly, and there are many perks such as a nice office, free lunches/snacks/drinks, and off-site activities such as Giants games, happy hours, etc.

      Cons

Territories are divided to match Cisco territories, but they do not set quotas based on historical sales or based on actual data (Cisco does this, as any legitimate sales team should). Instead, Meraki management takes the lazy route and just applies the same quota to all territories, regardless of the differences between territories (which can be significant). This makes some territories impossible to attain quota, while others are enjoying sales at 4x quota. Quotas are set based on "top-down" approach, and not necessarily based on realistic numbers and data. Also, there are no female managers (or very few) and most don't last long. Middle management is promoted from within, which allows for salespeople to advance. But unfortunately it's existing male directors who just promote their buddies, and it is not based on actual performance and skill. Also, once they become a sales manager, they do not invest in training them. The result is a lot of inexperienced, male managers running the show. There is a lot of expectation to attend happy hours and support the male-dominated, drinking and party culture. There are countless times where female employees, including myself, had to suffer through constant sexist remarks made on the sales floor by salesmen and managers, and even the managers join in rather than extinguishing this kind of culture. HR is no help. The women that were in management positions and have since left the company for other jobs, seem to all have the same feedback. They were boxed out by other male managers and sexism was obvious at every turn. They were just not taken seriously so they went elsewhere.

      Pros

Great employees, very nice people to work with

      Cons

No career trajectory, no coaching, no growth. Makes if difficult to be excited when top talents are neglected. Your opinions don't count. And middle management is heavy with talentless people leaders

Great place to work, bad middle management

      Pros

Casual clothes to work is the best. Amazing office and location. Dog friendly office, great lunches every day. Tuesdays and Thursdays get $25 for food around the area if you work late. Overtime. A lot of work, but not too stressful. Amazing people and co-workers.

      Cons

Bad middle and upper management. Little communication/feedback between engineering/product/sales/support. Middle management just kinda goes with the flow. It's great in some regards, but other times it comes off as a giant unfocused plan.
