I worked at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Extremely women friendly company, lot of benefits. Best place for women to settle forever in life as there are plenty of opportunities for growth. Mainly comes from the culture of Germany.

    Cons

Too much focus on increasing FTE numbers by managers which decreased the quality of work oriented people coming in. Only recently controlled by big decision makers from HQ in Germany. Hopefully it gets better in the future. Very high attrition rate.

    Advice to Management

Retain quality and give up focus on increasing the number of FTEs

I have been working at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Frequent trips to Germany/Japan/US (min once a year), Attitude of brand, U come and go without doing anything for a month straight and still u get paid with smiling face, Best company for women, Company infrastructure.

    Cons

The one that tops in cons is the fake image u will see every colleague of u will carry about themselves.. A good engineer will be almost 1 out of 50. No exaggeration. But everyone has a attitude and feeling that they are the best and waiting for opportunity. Showing such feeling makes everyone to be recognized as one single group. The organization in engineering is broadly split into two groups Cars and Trucks... in them...

I have been working at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Has potential to get good work from Germany, and cutting edge technology like ADAS, Autonomous Driving, Alternate powertrain, Telematics etc Great work life balance and decent pay, travel opportunities

    Cons

Management is more focused on implementing more processes, tools, etc than actual technical learning. Since main focus away from technical competency, quality of work from Germany also is reduced. Poor management strategies and no sustainable project plans. Excessive lateral hiring from outside of the domain which leads to dilution of technical expertise. Frequent change...

    Advice to Management

Stop focussing on increasing headcount and recruiting managerial people. If you really want an R&D centre provide a platform for people to learn and move up the organisational hierarchy instead of bringing in people in the mid level and managerial level just to make the organisation chart beautiful. Give more importance to number of years of experience in the domain rather than the overall experience, since that hardly...

I have been working at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India full-time

    Pros

    - Good Facilities (Infrastructure, Canteen, Cab Network). - Short Term Overseas Travels. - Dream job for people who don't want to work or learn. - Job Security.

    Cons

    - Work-Life Balance (Don't be shocked. I mean hardly any work!) - Quality of Work: Hardly technical, its administrative in nature. Trivial maintenance stuff for outdated technologies/tools/products. - Salary Trap: Good pay but have no learning or chance to develop skills (other than MS Excel and Powerpoint). Eventual risk of getting stuck forever because technology is changing...

    Advice to Management

Do not go after headcount to create new management positions to drive Mercedes Cars in Bangalore and stop giving a false picture of R&D activities at MBRDI in media. Promote or Hire capable people who have a vision for engineering excellence. Please utilize the Human Resource.
