    Pros

Plenty of time off, great cameraderie with your fellow Officers. Uniform provided.

    Cons

You feel you are in the middle of a sht sandwich some days, with aloof, ignorant, incompetent, petty and unsupportive management above, and dangerous, unpredictable prisoners the other side, many with drug fuelled, aggressive mental illness the other side.

None that they would ever listen to.

I worked at Ministry of Justice UK full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Organised. Central location. The work is not intellectually demanding there is just a lot of it.

    Cons

Lots of fixed term contract people so a lot of coming and going. Flexitime is only available if your job can accommodate it. Have to cancel hospital and other medical appointments. If you're off sick you will be given a disciplinary which just incentives people to take longer than a day. No training in the offices but national training which is very good. Some of the people are very odd. You are not allowed to take notes...
