Pros

I can’t think of a single pro from my experience, but it is worth mentioning that people are happy in other departments.

Cons

I worked in the legal team. It was a truly terrible experience. The managers are bullies and HR so so useless. The other people I worked with were extremely unhappy and they have all left now, except management. The bullying behaviour was a variety of personal put downs and unnecessary comments, deliberately taking what I had said out of context, giving me work with zero explanation of what needed to be done, not responding to reasonable requests of assistance, being left out of meetings and social events, taking me into meetings with no warning and yelling at me for a good half hour or more, talking behind my back, I could go on. It wasn’t just a clash of personalities. There was a very very high staff turnover, with around 5 people in my job in the 18 months before me. I heard that there was a successful employment claim against the company from one employee previously in my “team”. I was initially frank with HR. They did nothing to assist, they only made things worse. Eventually I contacted a legal charity who confirmed that I was being bullied. After speaking to a counsellor from them I handed my notice in. I have moved on to better things. They made my life very unhappy. I cannot overstate the damage that they did to my confidence, not to mention my mental and physical health. (Not a current employee, just don’t know how to change it.)

Pros

Onsite Gym, I would be hard pressed to think of anything else

Cons

Senior Management is a crowded boys club, all ready to throw anyone and everyone under the bus to avoid being caught out doing nothing and taking credit for anything they can get their hooves on. Salary is way below average for what is expected, any commission that can be clawed back to the budget on a technicality can and absolutely will be. Senior Management, extremely condescending and unprofessional, will happily call out recruiters in front of the entire room without any remorse and try to spin doctor anything they can to get an issue off their desks.

Pros

Great marketing, legal and IT teams

Cons

Terrible management at board level; CEO & CFO are good but the other recent board appointments have been a mistake and that can be seen in the culture of the company and its recent poor performance. Poor decisions since the O&G market slow down Far too many back office staff and a distinct lack of front office/sales staff with any expertise or experience Reward and promote poor performers who are happy to agree with management on anything, and losing their best staff who are prepared to question policies and decisions. A lack of localisation at management level, still sending the same old British to fail in one market after another instead of hiring quality local staff. Lack of understanding of modern market and the political and cultural sensitivities of working overseas.
