I have been working at NGA HR full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very flexible company where working from home is the norm. You don't feel FOMO as the rest of the team is also working remotely, so the whole dynamic is structured around it. Excellent use of technology in all fields (both inward facing, but also in how we engage the customers) enables very lean processes. Personally speaking, an excellent relationship with the management team and the feeling that "all doors are open", at all levels.

    Cons

A more structured approach to cross-functional awareness and knowledge sharing during the troughs of work would be an excellent way to mitigate the negative aspects of remoteness. This is left to individuals' initiative, so it can be difficult at times

I have been working at NGA HR full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The money is very good and progression to other roles is good outside the company as other companies value experience in the software.

    Cons

The management can be poor. You are often either expected to work all over the country and expected to have in depth knowledge with little or no training or you are totally ignored by management.

I worked at NGA HR full-time

    Pros

Big company with impressive growth, though it's unclear whether their growth in the UK can be sustained as they have, by their own proud boast, virtually saturated the UK Payroll market.

    Cons

Where to start? Good job I prepared a list. Management are mostly incompetent, most staff are jobsworths, thry don't actually have their own dedicated HR team (just remind me, what is the company name?), most support functions are run off-shore (try getting an urgent response from Hyderabad or Manila at 4pm), company culture is mean, politically riven, with managers actively promoted because of their willingness to brown-nose their way up the slippery pole, despite not having any ability to manage or to understand the role that they will be managing, while others more talented are denied reward, recognition or success for daring to challenge the bloated smugness of their "superiors". Bitter? Absolutely - after 18 years of outstanding service, not one single senior manager had the decency to even talk to me in the 12 weeks of my notice period. Good riddance.

I have been working at NGA HR full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Large friendly organisation, people are great and some real friendships have been developed here. Communication across the organisation is great - visible, vibrant and informative. Employee perks and benefits are good. The management team show a committed investment to its staff e.g. (introducing a global management fundamentals programme to upskill and equip line managers with the necessary management skills - of which members of the leadership team attended to support, encourage and feed back to their staff - felt very rewarding for those of us attending the programme - a real investment). We have an excellent offshore team in place, who act as an extended arm to their UK teams, developing greater ways of working and working collaboratively with each other. Opportunity for career development is widely encouraged and accessible. Overall a great place to work and be a part of!

    Cons

Its a huge global outfit, and finding the right people in the organisation to assist can be daunting and difficult. I think the organisation is recognising this and are trying to make this more seamless but we have some steps to progress forward yet.

I have been working at NGA HR full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Exposure to enterprise projects

    Cons

    - Low pay - Performance review is a tick box exercise: high performers don't necessarily get rewarded - Lack of employer engagement - Low morale across the company - Thrown in the deep with - sometimes - no or very little support - Little or no training - Nobody actually knows how this company is structured: you keep reinventing the wheel due to lack of knowledge transfer within and between departments

I have been working at NGA HR full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Was a great place to work. Wonderful staff, caring management, brilliant products and satisfied clients. One by one these pros have disappeared................

    Cons

Too many to mention - but some that spring to mind: experienced senior management forced to leave because they don't agree with the new direction: the new direction is wandering all over the place and is changed far too frequently: no new initiatives are funded sufficiently, the exact opposite in fact; every area of work that I come into contact with is under resourced and stress is rife: too few of the 'Newbie' senior managers understand what we sell or the market that we sell into: and the lis could go on and on and on........

I have been working at NGA HR full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you are lucky you can work from home though if this goes on too long, its not so good. Immediate colleagues have been good to work with.

    Cons

Depending on the project you are either working from home or ridiculous hours away from home. Work life balance is poor. My experience of internal HR is very poor. Internal IT has not improved, especially after the move to Google products. Graduate training is the worst I have ever seen. Very poor for those who want a managed career structure, company relaunching another competency framework. Bids and projects usually under resourced or not enough experienced key people to support those with less experience.
