I worked at NICE Actimize full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people, good business domain, some good tech

    Cons

Management is distant and the company's tech may not be up to speed with latest trends anymore. No career development to speak of.

    Advice to Management

invest more in the people, try to read the market and invest in new cutting edge technology.

    Pros

A good portfolio of historically acquired clients makes for credibility in the market. Some good staff benefits on birthdays, casual Fridays etc and good offices.

    Cons

New disruptive competitors have/are eroding the historical #1 position because the company has woefully underfunded product development and consequently has lost its position as thought leader. This is acutely so in EMEA where local legislative requirements have been ignored in favour of sorting US requirements.
The sales controls and management of the NICE holding company (with different sales cycles and requirements) are being imposed down in to Actimize for the sake of global consistency, but it ignores the important differences and becomes managing the statistics rather than managing the sales cycle. The impact is that many staff in EMEA feel that our needs are not being listened to or catered for in a drive to get a NASDAQ price at all costs

    Advice to Management

Listen to local management and don't write them off as whingers

    Pros

Great product. Fairly relaxed atmosphere. Nice place to work if you know what you're doing

    Cons

Very little management oversight. Not a place for inexperienced professionals. Very little support for those involved in project delivery. Almost non-existent career progression framework. Too much in hock to clients, especially Tier One.

    Advice to Management

Support those individuals involved in solutions delivery. Offer attractive training opportunities. Train managers. Ensure managers actually have people management skills. Stop using useles surverys to pretend everything is alright.

    Pros

The company allows you to work in autonomy and trusts you to deliver

    Cons

There is some initial direction given but you can feel like you're on your own with little help.
There is also a sense that the product team, or many other areas of the company, support the PS projects once it's been sold

    Advice to Management

When speaking to the customer speak with a company voice rather than have the R&D team try to throw PS under the bus

    Pros

    - Products have real-world implications with impact on millions

    - Fair compensation and good work/life balance.

    Cons

    - Poor culture and communication: Management decisions seem to be made in a vacuum and changed for no reason at all. Poor communication between levels of the company and across teams. Lack of communication also leads to low morale

    - Lack of career development

    - Innovation and investment in the wrong places in the wrong places: Actimize has invented a new style of company happy hours: "PYOB", or "pay for your own beer"

I have been working at NICE Actimize full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

On the Actimize sales team I immediately have the opportunity to work with world-class prospects and customers, and have the chance to initiate, progress and potentially close real sales opportunities within my first 90 days. Our products are well respected, highly valued and competitively differentiated. Compensation will be fair, or even - dare I say - generous. I'm highly motivated and incentivized.

    Cons

NICE Actimize isn't for every sales professional. This is truly a role where you must be a self-starter and ready to dive into the deep end quickly. While there are relatively good marketing materials available for self-study, there's not a lot of hand-holding.
Our company is ready for the shift to SaaS/Cloud and using machine learning/AI, but we're not telling that story clearly so the perception is still that we're only good for big banks (which isn't the case).
Our company has also improved the time-to-value (i.e. deployment time) of our solutions, but this is another area where overcoming past perceptions can be challenging.

    Advice to Management

I believe expanding our focus on emerging fintech and alternatives to traditional banking will be key to sustained growth. I also believe that expanding our relationships with partners - both as sales channels and as deployment resources - will be important.
