      Unfair Hiring Practices Especially for Contract Faculty

      Pros

      Salary, benefits and time off. Great resources and good support.

      Cons

      Politics and unfair hiring is ridiculous. So many excellent and experienced contract faculty are passed over at the end of their contracts for inexperienced and less skilled individuals who know or are preferred by someone with hiring influence. Your education, experience, skills and contributions to NSCC are irrelevant. Almost impossible to get permanent employment. If you want to see people that you trained and/or mentored get hired over you, this is definitely the place to work.

      Pros

      Very talented instructors who are dedicated to their jobs.

      Cons

      Wages are low and they would rather hire you part time to avoid paying benefits and getting in to the union. If they can squeeze every once of goodwill out of you, they will.

      Pros

      It is great to work there. Environment and students are nice. Very friendly place to work at and very familiy oriented.

      Cons

      Salary ranges are low even though most proffessors have PHD from top universities. strict rules with no flexibility on deadlines.
