I worked at Nando's Canada part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Paid hourly plus tips
    Paid sick days

    Cons

Didn’t get any of my earned tips until 2 months working there
5 hour shifts, usually cut down to 3-4 hours

One of the worst places I’ve ever worked at. You are trained to be part of a “family”, but in reality it’s just another low-end server job where you are expected to be a cashier/server/host/phone operator. “Buddy” trainers act like supervisors and micromanage you

Management is more concerned with keeping wage cost down; which means not enough staff to cover your shift if you’re sick.
Calling in sick and asking others to cover shifts is frowned upon, even within a weeks notice.
Booking days off is impossible, management does not respect the “request book off” booklet
Staff is extremely cliquey and negative (gossip, etc)
    Toxic working environment

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees with respect
Be honest when hiring employees about shift hours (5 hours) and position
(I was hired as a closer and not told until 3 months into career)
Discourage ‘buddy’ trainers as acting like supervisors
Improve management communication (I was told different ways of doing one task by every manager)

I have been working at Nando's Canada full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Growth in personal development is this companies focus! If you are fired up about self-development, and the development of others, this is where you need to be! You have courageous leaders throughout the organization who are always committed to helping. Family driven values is evident and lived- it's the Nando's way. Nando's is way more than cooking chicken, it's about impacting others globally! There is so much purpose led initiatives that change lives across the world, from Farmers in Africa, to vendors and partners her in Canada- to guest experiences and team members experience. For myself, Nandos has provided me the opportunity to see places I never would have seen, from South Africa, to Mozambique to the UK and even the Dominican republic, also around other provinces in Canada.

    Cons

If you don't like to make a difference in the lives of others, this may not float your boat

    I worked at Nando's Canada full-time

    Pros

The front and back of house staff share tips equally and receive a minimum wage not a server's wage.

    Cons

Management has favourites, they work you to the bone, not really a professional work environment, low standards on cleanliness.

    Advice to Management

Treat all staff equally and fairly, provide more opportunities for career advancement, be more professional, maintain a clean work place.
