I have been working at Nando's UK full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job development, support, training, benifits, free food, discount scheme, cycle to work, Indaba (overseas conference), just a really caring company. I love it!

    Cons

Shift patterns, maybe a few more days holiday to compensate for working through bank holidays/Christmas and weekends.

I worked at Nando's UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good Training workshops
    - Feedback culture allows you to grow (if given properly and received with an open mind)
    - Good networking culture across the company, you can easily call senior members at head office and they will be happy to help.
    - Youn working environment and 3 staff parties per year.

    Cons

    - You are contracted to work 48h per week but end up doing a lot more. I was doing an average of 53h per week, depending on delivery times and general workload.
    - There is a huge "favouritism culture" within the company. If your boss(es) likes you or you are the popular person in your business region, you'll be promoted if not you'll be forgotten.
    - Huge lack of transparency when dealing with pay reviews. Two assistant managers working in the same restaurant and with similar responsibilities can be paid significantly different. This is partially due to the point mentioned before and to the fact assistant managers from high-volume restaurants get paid more, however, when they transfer to small-volume restaurants this is not balanced out, creating a big pay gap between them and the existing assistant managers of the small-volume restaurant.
    - The feedback culture can be used to pick on little things and delay someone's progress (see point two about favouritism). Progress should be better monitored.
    - In some restaurants (becoming more popular across the company) there is a growing 24/7 what-app/ FB manager group chat going on. This is hell! No work/home balance at all!
    - The values promoted by the company are great in theory. Shame they don't work in practice.

    Advice to Management

It is a decent company to work for as an assistant manager but don't expect to progress as quickly as advertised. If you like partying hard and brown-nosing, this is a perfect company for you but if you don't share these values and rather have a more distinct work/home life balance it might take you longer to progress.

    - Bonuses are achievable but it depends very much on the location of your restaurant and usage of your restaurant. If you work in an old small-volume restaurant you will likely have more expenses with repairs and others and, while negotiable, your budget line doesn't really reflect these aspects.

I have been working at Nando's UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family: People at Nando's are incredible. Every restaurant has its different story or background, but the people you will find are always available and friendly
Integrity: it's awesome how Nando's as a company is able to deliver such a meritocracy system in term of promotion or opportunity. Wherever you from or whenever you join Nando's, you will be always welcomed!
Passion: I love how Head Office, L&D, Customer Service, MNGMT are always trying their best to help Nandocas from every store to enjoy their time at work. The passion start from the bottom to serve great food to the top our CEO always proud about Nando's.
Pride: Nando's it's always present at all events locals, regionals or nationals to give that extra kick of flavour and show how great as a company it is. Since your Journey at Nando's start you will be involved in so many activities that you will be easily caught to be part of more, then you will find yourself to promote Nando's at anytime (when you travel, when you are with your friend etc).
Courage: That it's the main part of the job, being a risk takers will get you far, very far in the company, at one point I thought there were no limit, because Nando's is complete (QG,Marketing, Finance, IT, B&M, Customer Service, Social Media, Music, Films etc) and as a company can help you to reach all your dream or vocation. Feel free to Flyhigh!!

    Cons

Career: Try to grow up as quick as possible, making question, being risk takers, positive and a leader. Travel: use wisely your day off and plan in advance, which will help your worklife balance. Media: try to get involved in all the events that Nando's is present and keep updating yourself with the Nandoca App, which is full of cool stuff! Food: It's great, but don't take all the leftover at home because Nando's is involved in doing the right thing scheme giving the ref overs on charity. Family: be nice with your team and sometimes try to hang out all together

    Advice to Management

Grillers wage increase, try to have less turnover, keep being nice and more development course!

I have been working at Nando's UK full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free food, great development opportunities, reasonably flexible. Offer a lot of nights out etc and a perfect place to work as a 'nandoca' (basic level) whilst at uni/college

    Cons

Feel like sometimes don't have a great social life, 9-10 hour days not uncommon. Brown-nosing a great way to progress through the business, to the disappointment of other strong staff members.

    Cons

Its a really busy place so sometimes do not have time to socialize with customers, plus when you try to send cv for others kob work in nandos is not really valuable.
