I have been working at Nando's UK full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

*Your colleagues are like your family, the managers put a lot of emphasis on ensuring everyone is happy and comfortable
    *Lots of training and preparation
*Free meal (up to £10.95) every shift
    *Personal and partner discount

    Cons

It is not a laid back work place in the sense that there is a lot of work to be done and it's very fast paced - not a place I'd recommend for someone's first job as it could be really intimidating and too much work for someone with little hospitality experience
No choice as to what station you work at - I.e you cannot apply to just wait tables as everyone does every job, such as grilling, cooking, washing dishes, hosting, cashiers etc

I worked at Nando's UK part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Staff parties, meetings fun and democratic, management listen to staff, ongoing training, Nandos always changing and improving.

    Cons

All the cons of hospitality; customers, cleaning and busy evenings.

    Advice to Management

More praise needs to be given to staff on a person-person basis instead of the company doing it for them.

    Pros

    Good pay
    Lots of holiday hours
Lots of opportunities for out of work socialising and with other stores too

    Cons

You don’t know what you’re working until a week or 2 weeks before

I have been working at Nando's UK part-time

    Pros

    - very flexible working hours
    - good relationship between staff and managers

    Cons

    - can be quite clicky (depends on the store though)
    - nature of the job means hours can be rather un-sociable

I have been working at Nando's UK part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff at Nandos are lovely and although busy it’s a great environment to work in. Employee discount and free food with every shift. Also at Nandos you get a chance to do everything like grilling, working on tills, co-ordination, running, hosting so you pick up a lot of skills.

    Cons

Viewing my payslips was almost impossible before getting a smartphone. It can also get a bit hot in the restaurant.

    Advice to Management

Let staff have the option of receiving wage slips through the post as I would definitely like this.
Maybe talk about introducing skirts or shorts for hot days as we get busy and it gets hot.

    Pros

Really great place to work, amazing people, great work-life balance, autonomy and varied work.

    Cons

Informal structure sometimes make it hard to measure and track personal performance and development. There is always a trade-off.

    Advice to Management

    Accountability and Performance Management

I worked at Nando's UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Actually some of the people you meet are nice. You can move up in the business easily if you want to.

    Cons

The unsociable hours. The management team does not listen or takes care of its staff. The management team does not own up to its mistakes, knows how to give feedback or support. They always work with the mentality 'I am right, you are always wrong' The General Manager/ Patrao and most of the managers are not fair to the team-the favourites were to easy to spot.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Listen to your staff. Don't encourage gossip, don't spread gossip and create a negative environment. Follow the right procedures, don't threaten the staff with a disciplinary action straight away. Actually live up to the Nando's values.
