I have been working at Nando's UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are possibly the biggest perk of this job. You create lasting friendships with the people you work with.
Benefits of the job include paid break and a free meal every shift. Between 3/4 regional parties with free drinks and travel for all staff
Management wise, you can get up to £4000 bonus depending on restaurant performance, as well as trips abroad sometimes.
If you're a 'nandos' person you can work your way up quite easily, but the more people you know the better.

    Cons

It always seems unorganised... the same problems are still happening 3 years later. Understaffed on shift as the budgets won't allow for more staff. Long hours, a 12 hour shift is not unusual, and usually get out at 2:30 AM on a friday/saturday due to all the cleaning at the end of the shift.
At times it can feel a little 'clique-y', in order to progress there must be a position available, so it depends who knows who at times...

    Advice to Management

In terms of general manager in the restaurant, spend more time with your staff and management team.
In terms of regional manager, really spend more time in your restaurants! Some staff don't know who their regional manager is.

I worked at Nando's UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Actually some of the people you meet are nice. You can move up in the business easily if you want to.

    Cons

The unsociable hours. The management team does not listen or takes care of its staff. The management team does not own up to its mistakes, knows how to give feedback or support. They always work with the mentality 'I am right, you are always wrong' The General Manager/ Patrao and most of the managers are not fair to the team-the favourites were to easy to spot.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Listen to your staff. Don't encourage gossip, don't spread gossip and create a negative environment. Follow the right procedures, don't threaten the staff with a disciplinary action straight away. Actually live up to the Nando's values.

    Pros

The values, the environment and the spirit make nandos one of the best place to work. You have opportunity to develop yourself and live many differents experience. The treatment it's amazing and the work place it's always fun. Work hard Party hard.

    Cons

Nando's it's one of the most busy place in UK, so the shifts are usually really busy and heavy, also, sometimes the customers are hard to manage. Some more money as well would be nice.

    Advice to Management

Try to see in advance what your nandocas and customers need. Create a enjoyable place to work, always say thanks for the hard job that the guys do and try to create situation to help your guys to push himself more but in the same time doesn't feel heavy.

I have been working at Nando's UK full-time

    Pros

Free management courses, free food, meeting a lot of people (changing job location often), staff parties

    Cons

The supervisor role needs to be reviewed. Supervisors are also part of the mgmt team and get involved in helping the team get bonuses, while they don't get any recognition or bonus. Also I, as a supervisor, am performing as Assistant manager in my daily tasks but my pay is much lower.
The MD's are getting less involved with staff below GM level, don't seem interested. (Even basic"Hello" when entering the restaurant is often forgotten)
Company is losing their values and are focusing on making money in the past 2 years.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget that without the staff your business wouldn't be working. A simple thank you goes a mile.
