I have been working at National Grid (UK) full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits: holidays, flexible benefits, some people

    Cons

Poor management with a lack of transparency. In recent changes over 200 ‘staff’ made redundant with NO changes to the senior teams.

    Advice to Management

    Sort it out guys!

    Pros

Free Gym Business make finance feel welcome and valued Good vision communicated from the exec but needs management levels to bring it to life

    Cons

People in finance management positions with poor management training or leadership attributes Micro management approach and lack of trust Poor progression opportunities - Band Cs don’t move Poor finance systems - lots of manual workarounds Yet to properly work out Finance Business Partnering - 5 years behind the benchmark Management ignoring genuine concerns about project delivery when escalated - a “just get... on with it” attitude Tendency to engage expensive consultancies rather than provide development opportunity to own staff High turnover of new starters is a concern Poor training Awful parking and traffic issues

I worked at National Grid (UK) full-time

    Pros

Big Company Ideal for a graduate that wants to learn about the energy industry, good rates of pay and a share save scheme

    Cons

Very poor management, treat staff like cattle, always jumping on the band wagon of new staff incentives yet unable to fulfil the commitment, starts well then go down hill very very quick, I would not recommend anyone to work for them if they had a real passion for a career find a different company

    Advice to Management

treat your staff like you treat your directors, give your staff real rewards like you give your directors, listen to your staff properly rather than using loaded surveys.

I have been working at National Grid (UK) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

My group was filled with fantastic engineers and designers. Definitely a great community of people. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Poor leadership due to some scandals chronicled in the news and poor management of storms.

    Advice to Management

Focus on growing and retaining your talent. Don't be afraid to move the company into the 21st century with new technology and data analytics.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at National Grid (UK) full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Depending on your direct manager, the work from home option is probably the biggest pro here. -Benefits and 401K are also good and should be taken advantage of.

    Cons

-Very poor management style (lower levels have no say and feedback not taken seriously) -Not very good at promoting and developing employees from within (Promote unqualified or hire from outside for twice the amount and ask other to train them). -Salary levels are not in line with market (either grossly underpaid or overpaid) -Year end Performance reviews are laughable at best, convoluted/bias process -Workplace... morale is lowest it's ever been
