Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at National Museums Scotland full-time for less than a year
Pros
Other VEAs intelligent and friendly. Take this job if you're happy doing the exact same thing every day, with no change, or expectation of personal growth and development.
Cons
No possibility for transfer or consideration for other positions that become available. Not much expected/required from you as an individual. A lot of micro managing. Exactly the same tasks day to day with the odd exception of an museum event, with little preparation/briefing given prior to event. Shift pattern unsociable and too straining, eg, a rarity to have 2 days off in a row, shift pattern is commonly working 5 days, off 1, working 4 days, off 1, repeat. So quickly the job will become your life, like it or not. Managers are a lottery, many are friendly professional and understanding, others can be highly strung, controlling and borderline abusive.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at National Museums Scotland full-time for more than a year
Pros
Beautiful workplace and great interaction with people from all over the world. Decent working hours and option of doing overtime at a higher rate and opt for a taxi back home if the event finishes later than 22:00.
Cons
Low salary, standing all day, no career progression, micromanagement, boring. Had to pass 3 months to see or sign a contract. HR is completely useless.

Pros
Clarity of purpose, commitment to deliver, competent management and workforce, audiences enjoy their experience, in the majority of situations non silo working - so collaborative.
Cons
Over-committed - everything is a priority - this means lots of juggling, Could benefit from listening to the expert and competent workforce at NMS. More thanks yous would always go down a treat.

RecommendsPositive OutlookI worked at National Museums Scotland
Pros
Meeting new people every day and no two days are the same and good banter with colleagues.
Cons
Walking on the hard floors even with wearing comfortable shoes at the end of the day sore feet, legs and back regardless of age and now there is no seating for staff.
