        Pros

Some great people Embrace different cultures Caring values and empathetic at times Great pension Good training

        Cons

No Flexibility, too much changes to rota, working in retail we were forced to do contact centre calls meant less staff on shop floor, working is busy city centre branch we were asked to cover other branches it was very rare we got cover in our branch. 6 weeks notice for time off unacceptable. 2 people off at a time rule had to find your own cover if you wanted a specific day off. Manager favoured certain employees. Nothing is confidential so I stopped leaving feedback. Lack of mental health understanding. Lots of pressure on staff to work harder customer opinions are at the heart of everything disregarding employee opinion and mental health. Too much focus on sales and performance. No discount on mortgages for staff- being a building society.

          Pros

Flexible benefits, pension etc. Friendly colleagues and progression opportunities if you work hard and put extra time in.

          Cons

Some positive changes recently since the change of CEO but new CEO not bringing colleagues along on the journey. Requires some form of media/leader training around how to speak to employee/colleague audience. Focuses a lot on the work she and the 'big wigs' do, other colleague recognition seriously lacking, I don't work on the front-line but it's surprising how little recoginition Retail/front-line channels get these days, comparative to when Joe was CEO. They're the face of the Society. Answers to questions very nonchalant and lackadaisical, not well thought out or considered. There's a difference between leading and managing the business. Completely uninspired by leadership right now like many others, affects morale.

            Pros

Reasonably good benefits, pension and colleagues are mostly lovely. Great experience working anywhere for many years but all changed moving into the department I worked in before leaving. Unfortunately one individual ruined the whole experience

            Cons

Read Trustpilot reviews to see how customers are treated. My specific experience was being horrifically bullied by my line manager for 6 months to the point of wanting to end my life, despite this being reported to HR via numerous channels and her line manager nothing was ever picked up or investigated further. Manager had a real ‘god’ complex and was inexperienced in management which led to her giving incorrect information and speaking to staff like she owned them. Had no experience with dealing with mental health at all and showed no compassion. To use exact words ‘people don’t get upset about dead relatives from years ago’ in response to bereavement calls. Micromanaged every second of every day to the point of harassment, marked on stats of how many customers picked up calls? Impossible to control. No empathy, no remorse, no apologies , just purely horrendous. Would consistently tell other managers she was better than them. Was told Nationwide would get in touch to discuss the horrific bullying I received after I left but of course they never did. I honestly cannot stress enough how horrendous working in this specific department was and how little nationwide cared.

Lots of development opportunities. Management is really good in providing support. Will also be able to get lots of certifications

                    Cons

Promotion is a bit difficult as have to wait for someone to leave for that opportunity to be available and then there are many who'd apply for that position.

Do you experience that how long the hiring process would take at Thermo Fisher? I got my second interview with hiring manager at the beginning of November but I haven’t heard nothing from them. When I’ve emailed them to check in they just said that the process would be slow, no time frame. I would be able to get an offer soon from other company but work as contractor. Should I wait for Thermo Fisher?

                      Alex L.

Applied for a job a few weeks back, got a call from HR yesterday morning about an interview next week. She mentioned she'd shoot me an email with all the interview details, but so far, my inbox is empty. Assuming I'll hear from her early next week, is it normal for them to expect me to show up for an in-person interview on short notice, like couple days?
