I have been working at Nationwide Building Society full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great facility, good proactive people at NBS.

    Cons

I worked onsite at Nationwide Building Society, as a contractor with Communisis and will be applying directly to this amazing company Nationwide Building Society, once my non compete is over in 6 months.

The only reason I have left is the bullying onsite at Nationwide Building Society via Communisis senior management who are not even meant to be on the premises.

    Advice to Management

Check who onsite for your contractors, a lot of money could be saved if you check why people are onsite and what they are working on, do a RANDOM screen check, ask people for random security checks, name people on contracts and follow up on people who left and why directly to the person, at the end of the day your wasting money training contractors to understand your business rules only for them to leave as they have no progression as a 3rd part contractor, there are no other options for these people.

(It’s like putting your saving into a saving account with no interest rate it make no sense, when you could make money on a resource that is sat there.)

It would be more affective to see who you could offer a role directly to and not lose that valuable knowledge from your business, maybe the non compete would cost a little but you gain that back in the first week as this person / people would need less training and understand the risk and process.

as a Nationwide Member its scary to see what people are really working on, the waste of money that ultimately we pay back as Interest, I full accept that and would not change banks as the is a super company.

I have been working at Nationwide Building Society full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There's no escaping that you are well looked after and protected with Nationwide. Management tend to be positive and approachable. There is always an agenda for change and evolution.

    Cons

Being a building society feels like it is now hampering the speed of deployment of some much need change and update to real estate and tech. With the emphasis on protecting the members money quite rightly it can be hard to see things done at pace. While reputation is everything to the society the line of checking to get change through can be enormous.

    Advice to Management

Keep promoting open discussion. Be clearer about specific goals that you want your employees to meet and don't be afraid that these goals will be construed as targets. Targeting a set level of performance is what will make an individual, a team and a society perform
