Pros

Good commission structure and uncapped earning potential, incremental salary increases for hitting quarterly targets. There is a clear progression path from trainee to director and you get the opportunity to manage a team or continue as an individual contributor. Excellent support through in house training from the L&D team, regular evaluation for ongoing support from trainee through to management. Incorporates classroom-style learning to understand the theory behind recruitment and the different stages of the process, and in-person call coaching and real time feedback for continuous development. Genuinely want people to succeed. Managers are very involved with day-to-day working life, ongoing deals and placements to offer extended support through every stage. Constant feedback is provided on what’s going well and if there is anything to improve on. Very approachable with things that I need support with, both personally and professionally, and great mentors to look up to. The directors that are based in other offices visit on a weekly basis to offer a breadth of support and knowledge, not above helping trainees and are very personable. Company wide events on a quarterly basis with food, drinks, games etc. are all paid for, and dietary requirements are accommodated for. Great for meeting up with people you wouldn’t necessarily speak to daily. You get to see how people are progressing and the exciting deals/business going on throughout the company. Also, our office is in a co-working space in the centre of Leeds, and the building offer monthly networking events with other businesses, personal development events (mortgage advice, health classes etc.) and more. Fantastic environment to be in. Fast-paced industry where two days are never the same which offers a variety in work and you don’t feel stagnant. The daily targets aren’t rigid, and you set your own day depending on what you have on desk. 360 role where you go out and win business and source candidates for that business, feels like your own little company within a larger company so it feels very rewarding. You get to work with and speak to so many different people across the world that you would never have crossed paths with. Encouraged to go out and meet clients whether that may be in the UK or even abroad, if the long-term opportunity is there. Feels like a ‘consultant’ role rather than just a sales-based role. Good packages and benefits, including gym membership discounts, fully expensed iPhone and laptops and an early finish on a Friday. Overall, a great place to work and an excellent career option which often gets overlooked.

Cons

Long hours are common when working towards hitting targets, sometimes hard to balance home and work life. Can experience burnout, make sure to utilise the annual leave. High-pressure environment, not for everyone. Office-based role, flexibility when necessary but not for those who are seeking hybrid/remote working.

Pros

I started as a Trainee Recruitment consultant around 15 months ago. I had prior experience in sales but no direct recruitment experience. Being here for 15 months now, I have settled in and truly found my feet and I know what recruitment really entails. -Navartis has a great training structure, teaching you all the ins and outs of recruitment. Lot's of support from managers and senior colleagues. -Very clear progression chart, you are told from the off what routes you can take at Navartis. Also you are told exactly what targets you must hit to get to these milestones. -Good incentives, days out, early finishes, baking days, raising money for charity, attending events -Good commission, it isn't capped and you take a good percentage of it -The people are great too, I have been very lucky to be put into the team I'm in. Very collaborative, helpful, kind and just overall they are nice people to work with and be around.

Cons

The thing I have found most difficult with this role, is not truly knowing how your day can go in recruitment. However you will not know what recruitment is like until your in it... If you want to be in a job that is very mundane and you have your set jobs everyday that is always the same. Then recruitment is not for you. I have been here long enough to understand the lows and the highs of this job. The highs are absolutely fantastic, but you can have some really bad days too. Offers not going through, someone pulling out. You need to be extremely resilient with recruitment and not fall at the first hurdle. If you just give up at the first bad day then you will keep having bad days. It is truly just a job where you have to keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. You need to get comfortable being in uncomfortable situations and just throw yourself into the deep end. It is an extremely rewarding job but it can feel like clients and candidates are against you at times.
