Consultants of Fishbowl, I'm 31 and have ~$2m. No kids, student loans, etc... I'm also getting CTL'd. If you were in my position, would you scramble to get a new position or retire early?

      Pros

-you can drown away your sorrows on nights out -some of the people are good fun

      Cons

-sexism is rife but as long as you are a senior male you seem to get away with it. (We were told about a dedicated hotline you could ring if you experience unwanted attention on nights out - that’s how big the problem was) -I was asked to add ‘another 100k’ onto a cost saving estimation so they could get the total up to what they’d promised the client which is totally unethical -you get criticised for saying you are tired because it apparently shows ‘you’re not passionate about Newton’ -the hours are long, get to client site at 7am, work for 12 hours, then the juniors are expected to cook dinner (no time to go out for dinner!) and then you work til past midnight (but remember you’re not allowed to say you’re tired or express any emotion unless you want to risk getting fired) I could say a lot more scandalous things but I doubt it would get published so I’ll leave it there!

      Bad culture

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Pay is decent, although less than advertised, as it includes pension contributions, and 5k of it is for a car, which if you don’t want you only get 1k, and the car adds over 7k to your taxable income.

      Cons

Full of arrogant people Work ridiculous hours Lack of support Have failure exercises to knock you down because they hire a bunch of arrogant rich people, so they knock your confidence which isn’t the best if you’re not confident to begin with. If you don’t fit the culture they performance manage you out brutally. When I was there the only black employees were 2 mixed-race light-skinned black people in the entire company, yet they love to bang on about how they’re trying to improve diversity
