I have been working at Norbrook full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Production floor teamwork
    Clean environment
Team on production floor have a lot of experience.

    Cons

Internal communication is the worst I have seen in any company.
Middle Management too inexperienced or incompetent to make decisions, resulting in a blame culture.
No culture of feedback or employee engagement....how about not constantly putting bad news on the canteen screens and maybe provide wifi there for the teams.

Department Managers unable to or unwilling to support their own team.
Salary levels are poor with no incentive to work nights or weekends.
Factory is laden with daily rumours due to lack of official communication.

    Advice to Management

Work towards developing a world where feedback is welcomed and not feared due to your own insecurities.
Develop employee engagement structures and guidelines.
Productivity and efficiency will only increase with contented employees.
Employ a Business Improvement Leader to wok on the above.
Get Senior and Junior Management to become aware of the Gallup Q12 employee engagement questionnaire and move into the 21st century, before you lose all experienced staff.
Look at the little things that will help improve morale (and subsequently productivity....wifi in canteen, providing tea and coffee after 5pm for the teams who work nights away from their families(66% of your production teams work shifts after 5pm) getting feedback on broken machinery, encouraging development among teams in order to promote from within etc.
Treat all employees with the respect they deserve and not tell them to "suck it up"

    Clearer structure on development
    Obvious investment in the company

    Cons

not all benefits as standard industry, overtime should be time and half
Shift premium not competitive albeit base hourly rate good

    Advice to Management

    List to employees
Focus on improving overtime and shift premium

I have been working at Norbrook full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good experience- you get thrown in at the deep in very quickly

    Cons

Not enough training, or background on what you are doing

    Advice to Management

Listen to people who are further down the ladder than you- if you are seen to take their opinion and ideas seriously you will have happier and more cooperative employees who won’t mind staying an extra while to finish work.

    Pros

Cheap canteen and good fun with employees

    Cons

Its who you know not what you know
High turnover in staff meaning experience is lost all the time and projects suffer
Nobody is motivated to achieve and everyone talks about leaving.
Health and Safety would drive you around the bend!

    Advice to Management

Don't care enough to say as they don't care anyway

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Norbrook full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Norbrook doesnt have pros. The biggest pros are when you get off for the weekend away from the place.

    Cons

Moral is at an all time low. Everyone that works at the company wants out as soon as another job becomes available to them. Money should be better.

    Advice to Management

Try and get the operators that yous have on board. Happy staff means more productive staff.. A decent payrise would help and maybe stuff like time and a half for overtime. Things like that. And also boost employment in the local areas with some permenant contracts instead off 6 month contracts. Maybe organise events for staff. And the difference in treatment for weekly paid staff and monthly paid staff should change so that we are all treated equally

I worked at Norbrook full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Staff are great people. The experience you get here is second to none.

    Cons

Getting consumables is a hard task here. The management never listen. Salary will never go up, one guy was working 6 years with no pay increase. No sick pay at all. No bonus system in place. Well one, but if your off sick for 3 days in the year you loose the 300.

    Advice to Management

Please listen to ground staff. Visit the staff and ask simple questions like how is the lab going? Pay a bonus scheme, or an incentive for experienced staff to stay with the company.

  10. "A shocking with a bullying culture of fear and blame. No star's."

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Norbrook full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

None, unless you live in or near Newry and there are no other job's available.

    Cons

This place is shocking. The CEO arrived three years ago with a plan to turn around many years of under-investment. They have invested millions in kit and buildings. Productivity is still very bad, customers are continually let down and much of the product does not comply with regulations. The CEO always looks for a victim and has created a climate of fear. There are many good people who work hard, but still they are bullied.

    Advice to Management

The management team should stand up to the CEO, but they seem to live in fear. The owner's seems to have no idea about what is going on.
