  9. "High expectations with minimal job security"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - University Librarian

I worked at North Carolina State University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Reasonable pay (at first, raises are few and far between) and decent professional development opportunities

    Cons

The way these jobs are structured/categorized allows administration to do whatever they like with you and your position after a contract that can range from 1-5 years. They expect a high level of performance from their employees without providing any long-term job stability. It causes a lot of anxiety. Also, the library is managed like a corporation, complete with pep rallies.
