    Neutral Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at North Carolina State University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very good benefits, comprehensive and extensive employee programs, generally a very positive work environment, fostered a sense of community within the Wolfpack.

    Cons

Being a state institution, there is not a lot of room for upward mobility without leaving departments and roles, and tacking upwards through quasi-lateral moves.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I have been working at North Carolina State University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Their benefits are reasonable. As a faculty member, the teaching load and research flexibility are as expected.

    Cons

The university simply doesn't care about excellence. They cut corners everywhere. Educational quality is meh. Salaries are mediocre. And they don't want to improve.

  5. COVID-19

"Good for friends, not for a job"

    2.0
    Former Employee - Resident Advisor
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at North Carolina State University part-time

    Pros

Excellent opportunity to make friends and make a genuinely positive impacts on the development of freshmen. Free housing and compensated dining are excellent benefits.

    Cons

Working environment is not always great. Job security is limited - if for some reason the contract is terminated for reasons not your fault (COVID did me in), forget about receiving compensation. Benefits are good but pay is extremely low. Living and working in the same building means a work life balance is difficult to achieve just by way of difficulty of separating work from life. Work load is not consistent - some weeks were absolute bare minimum, some weeks go beyond the 20 hour projection. Stipend pay ensures that there is no benefit at all to working overtime.

  6. "Fine Place to work as a student"

    3.0
    Former Employee - Server/Waiter

I worked at North Carolina State University part-time

    Pros

If you are a student at NCSU they are very accommodating.

    Cons

If you are not a student you are a temporary worker and must take 32 days off in a row so the university doesn't have to pay you benefits.

I worked at North Carolina State University part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    full tuition waiver and stipend

I have been working at North Carolina State University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Tuition coverage, stipend, opportunity to learn and teach, work closely with a professor, work closely with students and the course material. Generally work less than the 20hrs/wk

    Cons

Very little in my experience unless you work in a bad department or with a professor that is not helpful
