I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work life balance when there is no schedule pressure Good benefits, gym

    Cons

Average to low pay Work life balance suffers when there is crunch time

    Advice to Management

Offer to at least match if going through counter-offer negotiations, otherwise do not offer to counter at all

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

9/80 work week. Would be assigned projects and roles according to skills and not limited to formal job title. Example: a systems engineer could work as a software engineer on a project if he/she had the skills, desire and there was project need.

    Cons

Some locations are great, others were notoriously bad. Management of the organizational structure often fails. Re-orgs happen annually and management fails to execute on large re-orgs.

    Advice to Management

The next time you undertake a massive organization, take the time to execute it properly instead of leaving employees without managers or much connection to the organization.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Boulder Living is really great but...

    Cons

As a senior engineer with decades of experience in the space industry, I was given minimal tasking well below my experience level and was treated extremely poorly by the management. There was very little trust given to employees. Performance of many significant tasks went unrecognized; asking not to work on certain projects led to suspicion and professional consequences. Pointing out your strengths only ensured that...

    Advice to Management

Just leave and let the professionals take over. There can be no trust or improvement in efficiency without empowering your employees and treating them in a hospitable manner.

    Pros

Big company means can survive a economic slowdown. Stable environment.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about employees - weak benefits, pay upgrades are slow and below average for tech industry at large, very limited advancement. Stable environment also means a hostile environment for innovation.

    Advice to Management

share the wealth with the rank and file and you'll get better engagement.
