I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    - The company is getting younger and there are opportunities everywhere - The company is well positioned for the future of the industry - The company encourages innovation at all levels

    Cons

    - It is a large company so it can be overwhelming (highly recommend finding a good mentor as soon as you can, this is true anywhere)

    Advice to Management

Continue to support innovation, a culture of change and inclusion, and adding employee benefits like parental leave is huge. In the last 5 years I've seen positive shifts in the company on multiple levels. Keep the momentum up! Defining possible is a great message. Dream big!

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Large Company, lots of different opportunities, flexible work hours

    Cons

Tuition Assistance is being capped @10k per year beginning in 2020, IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND PART TIME GRADUATE SCHOOL, DO NOT WORK HERE. Employees were told this 1.5 months before 2020. So if you want to get any sort of masters degree while working, be prepared that it will take 4-5 years to complete. I understand tuition assistance is a benefit. With that established, other companies (Boeing Raytheon etc.) Offer... much better tuition assistance options. Many younger employees (myself included) are very frustrated with Northrops tactics and advise younger employees to choose somewhere else if you ever think of attending graduate school.

    Advice to Management

Understand whats important to different demographics with respect to employee benefits. Older employees might not value certain benefits that are important to younger employees, & vice versa. If a benefit will be changed, please provide more notice to employees so planning can occur.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Large company (80k+ employees), scheduled pay raises, good benefits (healthcare, retirement matching, etc.)

    Cons

Managers/Project Leads rarely have any IT background/management experience, extremely vertical organizational structure where upper management makes decisions on employee career development with no communication with employees, poor overall communication, endless training seminars that stretch an hour of content into 8 hours.

    Advice to Management

Try to promote managers with an IT background to manage IT employees instead of only MBAs.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Large company and lots of opportunities to grow or do something different - Stable job - Great benefits and salary - Good work life balance (9/80 schedule, flex hours, work from home at times, etc) - Great people to work with - Lots of opportunities to network (lunch and learns, management presentations and panels, conferences, etc) - Good leadership

    Cons

    - Lack of training and mentorship for new employees - Needs improvement of multiple internal processes to make them more efficient and save $$$

    Advice to Management

Train people better when they get hired or transferred. I’ve seen it across multiple sites that people get a new role and get thrown into fire without adequate preparation.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Job security, many locations, most locations provide room to grow, and pays overtime.

    Cons

Old technology, large company that can make you feel like just a number, and inconsistencies in corporate policy site-to-site (especially Sunnyvale).

    Advice to Management

Continue pushing diversity and development of newer employees through coaching and mentoring, push more for keeping SW and tools up to date, and empower employees.
