Pros

This is a union job which provides incredible benefits and PTO (thanks to the hard negotiating work of the union). The clinical staff is generous, kind, intelligent, and supportive. Supervision is provided.

Cons

There is a new CEO and upper management doesn’t realize they work at a mental health clinic and only care about the bottom line. No overtime pay, even though it’s guaranteed you’ll work overtime. The current HR director is highly problematic, unhelpful, and retaliatory.

Pros

Dr. Dye truly cares about what she is doing and the kids are great! Such a great organization with potential to be great but many factors make it impossible!

Cons

Where do I begin? Everything is old fashioned. You have awesome organizations that are trendy and hip and have a great company culture whereas there is no culture at Northside at all. If you don't work directly with the children, it's difficult to want to wake up every morning to commute for 1+ hour to Northside. We value the arts, music, etc. within the program but you'll sit in complete silence for your 6-8+ hour day. Systems are old fashion, management does not accept any new innovative ideas. There's days when you'll have no work at all, meanwhile there's other employees that have 5 different roles but 1 job title and barely any pay. If you don't agree with something, prepare to panic that you won't make it till next week. Some of administration truly cares about the work they are doing and you can see who's doing it for recognition. It can be such a great place but if you're looking for a vibrant, positive, modern, and collaborative environment...go to one of the other organizations in Harlem that have it together. Two thumbs down. So glad I left! Best decision I ever made.

Pros

-pays decently -good benefits and union job [4 weeks vacation]

Cons

-either very weak or heavy handed leadership styles -management and supervisors do not encourage workers -management expect staff to get all work done and does not give them enough time to finish
