I have been working at Nottingham Trent University full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Interesting and varied work, exciting to be part of projects pushing research areas forward. Friendly culture.

    Cons

Appalling job security. Contracts for most research staff are extended for a maximum of 3 months at a time, and often won't find out if it's being extended or not up to a week before it runs out.

I worked at Nottingham Trent University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Open working environment - Easy commute using Tram, Bus and allocated parking - Opportunities for travel

    Cons

    - Higher management will discriminate against anyone who is white and/or male - Higher management will frequently block or sabotage your career progression if your political views do not align with theirs - The University as a whole refuses to develop and improve their services, more students join each year but staff levels diminish - Terrible pay, subpar support from colleagues - Not a meritocracy, better oppertunities and treatment will only present themselves if you are female, not white and are typically left leaning, you will be bullied by management unless you fulfil these requirements. - This has led to a workplace filled with unqualified individuals who push their work onto others to avoid doing it.

I have been working at Nottingham Trent University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good workers, you meet many people who live NTU and care about its values. Unfortunately they are not...

    Cons

Management who are incompetent, don’t give clear orders, don’t practice what they preach, are over paid, hypocritical, sycophantic ‘yes people’ who base their management style on having seen a couple of episodes of ‘the Apprentice’.

I worked at Nottingham Trent University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Good benefits and holiday allowance.

    Cons

Leadership under pressure and pressure cascaded down to staff. A lot of people unsure of their future and significant changes of staff.
