I worked at Nuance full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Some well known major clients

    Cons

You will be worked to death by less than bright middle managers who belong to a political clique. If you don’t belong so said clique, you won’t advance. If you’re a woman, forget about career advancement or even having the same title as men who have less experience. They’ve been outsourcing for years. The culture is dead. Most people with any substance and character have left years ago. It’s an extremely sad place to work. No such thing as a cohesive team who stays together. Management keeps piecemealing projects together with partially allocated resources.

I worked at Nuance full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good Benefits, average salary, ability to work from home

    Cons

I really can't say anything bad, that doesn't affect most larger companies, over the top paperwork requiring entry in multiple systems, very little continuity between systems making it a slow ponderous process, way too many unpaid hours.

Former Employee - Senior Principal Product Manager in Sunnyvale, CA
    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Nuance full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Nuance has good people, excellent technology, interesting problems to work on.

    Cons

Nuance is burdened by history and product lines/code bases that require resources, preventing them from investing wholeheartedly in growth areas. They are (IMHO) overly deal-driven and less strategic than would be ideal. They have redundant products and codebases and difficulty converging them. They have under-invested in R&D relative to peers for a number of years, although they still have excellent technologies to build on.

I have been working at Nuance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Direct leadership was fine, no issues with work-life balance, generous work-from-home policy

    Cons

Divisions don't work together at all, conversations dominated by sales over all else, focus on immediate goals over any long-term planning, complete lack of planning regarding IT

I have been working at Nuance full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Working from home allows for good work/life Flexibility. Benefits.

    Cons

Reactive. Terrible communication. No employee empowerment. Management can not manage staff or operations to support staff as they are fully occupied by responding to requests from their own managers, usually for rehashing data (because there is no central forecasting database) . No transparency.
