Pros

The support staff is genuine, although if you are busy you may find no help available to you. I cannot really think of anything else positive about the firm.

Cons

HR is the major problem area. When reporting a problem, it either gets swept under the rug or what you reported is twisted around on you and you become the target. There is favoritism on the highest level. HR DOES NOT in any way shape or form represent what is best for the support staff. If you work for very busy attorneys and you work overtime, you are threatened to the point where you are FORCED to work unpaid overtime and when you complain about it, you are the problem. See a pattern here? If you have a problem with HR and you go to your bosses, don't expect any help there as HR is untouchable and will deny everything and you will be labeled as the problem. HR will never be reformed to strive for better employee relations as it is far better to simply get rid of a good employee and keep recycling, hence the revolving door at this firm. Employees are disposable and not valued at all as they claim. Also, the firm condones clients who bully support staff...this is in no way acceptable! No woman should ever be bullied or threatened by a client and when such bullying/threats are reported, it should be imperative to correct this action. NO EMPLOYEE SHOULD EVER BE SUBJECTED TO THIS, EVER, NO MATTER WHO THE CLIENT IS - THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!

Pros

Lunch, bathroom breaks and leaving at the end of the day!!!

Cons

This place is a Vincent Price Haunted House nightmare!!! Management are the only ones that have written anything positive about the firm on this website. They don't even have the savvy to use different verbage on some reviews, which is a major tell sign. Speaking of, where in the heck is North Myrtle Beach, Horry County SC located? From everything that I have googled, they DO NOT have an office in that location at all, and that was posted by a current employee at that fictitious location. If you're going to lie, then at least make it something credible. Just about everyone there in managerial positions are insensitive to employee's needs. Unrealistic expectations from employees and not willing to pay "hourly" employees for overtime. Sounds like some thieving "President-elect" maneuvers. Working for no compensation is tantamount to theft!! If you don't want to be mandated to work for no compensation and you are not a salary employee, then keep on walking, don't look back, except in your rearview mirror!!

Pros

I just discovered this website and was surprised to see this law firm on it. Thank you for allowing such a site for real and honest reviews. I don't believe that disgruntled employees only write reviews on this site. This review is as honest as I can make it. They put up a good front but that's about it. The offices are beautifully appointed and the Baltimore Harbor is easily accessible. Other than that, there aren't many pros to working at this law firm.

Cons

The workload is exhausting and unfair, bordering on just plain impossible. I believe in hard work, but this was not even manageable for several people, let alone one person. Even when management could visibly see that you were overwhelmed, it was pretty much ignored. In fact, when I applied for this job, I had no idea that they expected legal assistants to support other attorneys and paralegals whenever their assistants weren't in the office for however long they were absent, in addition to those that you already supported...this is what they called the "buddy" system. I called it ridiculous and many others agreed with me on this. On any given day, without notice of any kind, you would be expected to work for as many as 6+ people. Others shouldn't have to suffer even more when another assistant decides to take leave, go on vacation, or be out sick. Of course, you aren't told this when you sign-up or you would, undoubtedly, ask for more money or run for the hills. The workload is not in sync with your salary at all. When it is review time, only the attorneys you regularly support are involved, when clearly, those that you have supported all year long in addition to them should also have a say...but that would clearly indicate a need for additional raise. This is only one of many unfair tactics used at this law firm. My advice to anyone considering a position here, is to go in with your eyes wide open, not wide shut as they would like you to. Expect to work like the work load is never going to end because it never will. Also, don't expect any sort of effective assistance from the human resources department when dealing with any work-related issue. It will be you against them and, of course, you will never prevail. I agree with another reviewer who stated that the staff is micromanaged. Certain staff members aren't privy to this treatment for reasons unknown to others.
