Pay people their worth and turnover will slow down

17 Jan 2021 - Account Director in London, England, England

      Pros

      - Smart, kind and friendly people - Great team culture (when in the office) - Really enjoyed coming to work and collaborating across the agency (when in the office) - Sea Containers is a beautiful office and you feel like you're really part of something big - A lot of the dinosaurs with old school archaic mentalities to looking after peoples lives outside of work and mental health have left. Great group of future leaders coming up the ranks who inspire everyone around them and have faith in them

      Cons

      - SO many great people leaving as they can't get the pay rises and promotions they deserve. Losing so much great talent as people walk out the door to get paid their worth which in the long run will cost wpp/ogilvy more due to recruiter fees and training new people - Making work and getting it out the door can be really slow - Pitch for too much work that is based on bad briefs. Should focus more on organic growth of existing accounts - NOTE: If you're joining negotiate a HIGH salary because it will be years before you get another one

      Decent, not great

17 May 2021 - Client Partner in London, England, England

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Smart, creative, fun people - Offices - Benefits are good - great brands/clients to work on - New CEO form consulting background seems to be revamping the entire org. Focusing on what matters and renewing sr. management.

      Cons

      - My first day: I waited 30 mins at reception because they had forgotten I was starting that day. Oh and I got a crappy pencil case with no pencils. - It's all about creative awards so work that does not win is not even considered and creatives have too much ego. - HR is awful. No growth path. No wonder there is so much attrition. HR people are interviewed to talk about culture, retention, etc. and when you read their articles, half of it is true. But they buy their own BS. - Politics: It is about who you know - Workload: Can be insane at times if not all the time. Sr. management purposely do not care. Always say they are aware and that it will improve. TOTAL BS - Supply rooms: Are a joke. Try finding a notepad, pens, pencils, sticky notes... - Pay: I was well paid but when I had to hire and saw the bandings, it is disgraceful considering the hourly rates - Sr Management: They love their own Kool-Aid and they think they are in touch with their employees. Some exec management people have been there so long and are so overpaid, they do not inspire anyone to want to work. - IT: On my first day, I received an old laptop with greasy fingerprints and crumbs on the keyboard. I also was not given a charger. Basically, I just got a laptop. - Inferior old and reused laptops which makes it hard to do your job. There is no standards so everyone has a different machine. It is the luck of the draw to get a decent laptop. Tech in meeting rooms is subpar. remotes are always missing, no adapters, no power plugs, etc..
