    Former Employee - Manager

I worked at Oliver Wyman full-time

    Pros

All the usual pros from consulting: Smart people, fast-paced, steep learning curve, broad diversity of projects including very high-end strategy assignments. Feels culture is more flexible and agile than in MBBs

    Cons

Management could do more to retain talent and reduce employee turnover. Commitment on work life balance improvement is genuine but delivering limited results. Disparity of salary depending on locations - very competitive in some places, less in other

I worked at Oliver Wyman full-time

    Pros

Great environment: smart people facing complex business issues Very professional and rigorous approach to problem solving High level public issues to work on

    Cons

Very, very technical approach, from junior consultants to senior partner roles Limited credibility and brand recognition as strategy / management consultancy house (recognized for modelling / analytical capabilities) Need to have a very specific profile to fit in (heavily number oriented, focused on details)

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Oliver Wyman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very smart people Fairly flat structure

    Cons

Trying to grow in size to compete more effectively with the top consulting firms and therefore losing all its niche appeal, less and less personal connections and more and more admin stuff Firm is also trying to leverage its famous FS skillset to improve its positioning on other industries but it's more confusing than helpful, finally felt that the good relationship between senior management and consulting teams was never translated into actions during the end year review
