    Ombudsman Services has some brilliant facilities, a modern working environment coupled with flexibility to work remotely is fantastic.     Nice buildings that’s it, nothing more

    Cons

    CEO who has zero direction or is able to manage difficult conversations Customers leaving left right and centre No strategy, no clear vision Spent thousands sticking UFOs etc. Around the place. Heads of area do not lead- constantly blame the exec Exec blame heads of area It’s become “ombudsman Bank of America” all ex failed staff from MBNA moved here.     Pros

    Great attention to facilities and physical working environment. Lovely location with access to nice walking routes. Some amazing managers who try incredibly hard to deliver for the business and their team members.

    Went through period of extreme growth and is now having to re-focus.

    The only good things I could say about working here are the pay-ish and my team

    Huge lack of transparancy from management and higher Lack of adequate training before changes happen Lack of briefs on changes happening before they actually happen They do not recognise the equality act 2010 or the anti discrimination act in there sickness policy Lack of respect towards their employees A ridiculous amount of pressure over the smallest of tasks that you could do with your eyes closed And management...

    You really need to be clear with your employees about changes and treat them with respect. You need to understand that we are not stupid and can actually see what's happening and would like to just be told the truth. You really need to change your sickness policy instead of forcing out people with disabilities, the way your acting as a business is very discriminatory and not inclusive at all.     Pros

    The people - my team were amazing and my main motivation to keep coming in. The canteen - the range and price of the food was pretty high in comparison to other places I've worked.

    Cons

    I honestly don't know where to begin. - Working as an Investigator at OS means dealing with the stress and pressure of a high flying job (doctor, solicitor etc) but receiving none of the prestige or money. The salary OS offers is woefully low in comparison to similar roles. - Last year we were told we would not receive bonuses or an annual pay review and that some staff could expect to be made redundant.     Hmmmm there aren’t any the exec team, engagement team and CTO have well and truly removed any pros hiding behind cut backs.

    Too many people with a ‘Head of ....’ title, sure there’s a ‘Head of change in wind direction’! An ex CTO that picked her favourites, brought in ‘engagement specialist’ who ridiculed, confronted and challenged officers on intranet for the whole business to see. An ex CEO whose extravagant spending has resulted in redundancies but feels it appropriate to throw a lavish party for himself as a farewell. Doesn’t matter how...

    Advice to Management

    Open your eyes to the actual business and the staff! Staff told you so many times that things weren’t good and changes were needed, told you that they were struggling, processes weren’t working, people weren’t being listened to so the current state of the business does not surprise me one little bit and I don’t have a degree in economics in order to tell me or in fact anyone this.

    Working from home 50% of the time and the modern office

    Cons

    Micro management - terrible team managers, many from a call centre background. Every second of your day is scrutinised. I felt like I was back in school. Lack of trust in the company - stories about redundancy, role changes, case shortages and profit loss were going around months before anyone told us what was going on. Even then we were not given the full picture. Constant change - change is managed terribly here....

    Sort the culture out. It went from being a fun, well run and inspiring place to work to just being another corporate business with sell by date. Don't tell your staff to come on here and write good reviews to improve the company rating. Read the honest feedback as you might learn something.
