Don't be fooled by the sudden influx of great reviews

      Pros

I met some really nice people on my team.

      Cons

Do not trust all of the recent reviews that express how awesome management is for allowing everyone to work from home. It simply isn't true. This company and it's "company culture" is so toxic. In my experience, management only cares about the bottle line. They did not care about my mental or physical wellbeing. I was expected to come in early, stay late, and come in on the weekends. You will be guilted into working and always doing more. If you are considering a job at OE, I would make sure you have a very clear understanding of what is actually expected in terms of work/life balance. If you prefer to be in a position where leadership trusts that you will get your job done without micromanaging, I wouldn't recommend working there.

      Do not work here

      Pros

This company used to be a tight family atmosphere that was us against the world... until our founder left as CEO and a New CEO came in to run things... He has run this company into the ground and made everyone miserable in the mean time. I will say that you will meet some cool people that work there and they will be life long friends... these friendships become very tight because of the shared hatred for leadership.

      Cons

The culture has reverted back to the "no rules" attitude of the early years... unrealistic goals, unprofessional behavior, horrible leadership. The company is trying to do whatever they can to get acquired, so they are trying to save as much as they can to extend the time range to get acquired... but its not happening. The culture continues to hire large groups of people (20-30 per month) and try to ramp them up within a month only to fire them when they do not meet expectations. They cannot keep customers which is the real problem... they spend so much money on getting their customers only to see them leave within 3 months of their 12 month service... this company is losing money hand over fist, which is why they have to move out of the swanky office space in down town Austin. Worst of all is the fact that in an attempt to try to manage the negative feeling about the company, the CEO has created burner accounts and leaves bogus positive reviews to boost the glassdoor ratings. He also replies directly to negative reviews with snide remarks to make it seem that its the former employee that is the problem rather than the company. I had a great 2 year run at Outbound Engine... helped improve the processes and culture only to see this CEO come in and run it into the ground. Lastly, there are no real opportunities for growth... the best you can hope for is middle management... the pay is below average and the work life balance is great if you like working weekends to hit unrealistic quota goals.

      Pros

Great place to learn the ropes for inside sales, the ability to work as many hours as you'd like (got to love that over time), good salary and large earning potential after commission. Learn to love the grind, very nice office, fun work events, generous ramp up period for sales, easy to get promoted, phenomenal benefits, easy access to anyone all the way up to the CEO.

      Cons

Traffic in and out of downtown can be rough, work/life balance can be rough.

      Pros

      The relationship with your coworkers.

      Cons

They lie from day one, your only as good as your next sell. Read the reviews on the product it sucks and you dont help small business. Work life balance is non existent. What training? No job security at all none.

      Tough Job

      Pros

Cold brew on tap, ability to make lots of money, decent training

      Cons

There was no work life balance at all they expect you to be in at 8 and leave at 6 on top of working Saturdays. 250 calls a day at least. Management doesn't care about you, you're just a number to them (except for a select few people). Turnover rate is CRAZY and they will even give dirty looks if you get up to go to bathroom more than twice a day. They scream at you if you are off the phone for more than a minute. They also listen in on your calls when you don't even know.

      OutboundEngine Response

      Sr Talent Acquisitions Manager

We appreciate your feedback, unfortunately OutboundEngine is not a fit for everyone and it looks like this was the case in this situation. We try to be very diligent at setting expectations that this is a cold calling position and takes grit. It seems like our time together was too short and low earnings are a symptom of not finding a mutual fit. I hope you found our training and structure helpful and learned something you can take to your next sales job in Austin

Rife with Blatant Lies and Misogyny

      Pros

Snacks. That's it. There's decent snacks.

      Cons

      - Environment designed to stress you out. Loud music, gongs, managers constantly running around swinging wiffle bats/golf clubs/whatever while screaming at you to keep dialing. - Training does not set you up for what the job is, even as nice and good as the trainers are. - Almost no women anywhere whatsoever throughout the company. The ones that are there get sexually harassed and told it's their own fault. Even when a senior is messaging them the sexual harassment over the WORK SLACK and not responded to and brought to HR. Told lies that there's never been complaints about that person or any guy before, but the find out almost every woman has been harassed by the same guy. Who gets promoted right after someone attempts to report him. - It's just a call center for an over-hyped, unnecessary product trying to be sold to a market that already gets it for free most likely. - You are constantly that you should be there early, late, on weekends, on holidays, every hour of every day in order to "succeed". There is no such thing as a work-life balance and they encourage that. - When you leave because it's not what the trainers or recruiters said the culture, job, or product would be at ALL, you get blamed and called incompetent. - There is no communication between departments whatsoever. Meaning, when you leave because it's BS, your manager is calling and texting you for the next week asking why you aren't coming in. Despite HR, the one that blamed you for being sexually harassed, having removed you from all the systems already.

      Pros

Decent base pay, if you're single, don't have kids, and your rent is cheap. Catered meals at least once a week. Free beer at awards ceremonies and sometimes after hours. Your teammates for the most part are super cool and supportive.

      Cons

Work-life balance is nonexistent. If you aren't closing anything or setting demos, prepare to work 7-7, including through lunch, and on Saturdays. Some managers are cool, some are extremely passive aggressive. Some top reps who held trainings are not managers for obvious reasons. The commission structure is way out of whack.

Great company, just wasn't the position for me.

      Pros

The culture is really great. Fun people and very inclusive. The atmosphere for the most part was really positive and people are always trying to make sales fun. Free snacks all day. The company wide events were really cool. (mainly OutboundOutloud)

      Cons

Work life balance wasn't the greatest. Expect to work weekends if you're not hitting your quota right off the bat. If you're not super sales minded you won't enjoy this role. Doing 200 dials a day can get old really fast. Not a great position if you don't like routine.
