    Very competitive setting and minimum collaboration amongst professors

    Please increase the collaboration between the departments

    I worked at Oxford University part-time

    Pros

    * Interesting work: you are paid to explain a subject you are passionate about and good at (hopefully)
    * Teaching a subject makes you inderstand certain aspects on a deep and intuivie level
    * Very flexible hours for marking and preparation
    * You get to work with young and keen students most of the time.

    Cons

    * No pay for time spent in preparation or marking; only time “in front of the blackboard” is counted towards your hours worked.

    I worked at Oxford University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    30 days of annual leave. Smart people and abundant resources.

    Cons

    Not good for in vivo research due to the strict animal regulations. Postdocs spend too much time on supervising students and have few chances to write their own grants.

    Tutorials, excellent resources, interesting lectures, societies, campus recruitment and career fairs

    Cons

    Many people have connections from before so they get the edge sometimes

    Intellectual freedom, historic knowledge center

    Cons

    bureaucracy, intellectual prowess in academics is not as good as prestige would suggest (but maybe that is true everywhere)
