      Pros

Work among very smart people, in cutting-edge projects. Constant influx of fundings so it's relatively easy to extend your contract if you choose to. Great work/life balance, but depends on research groups.

      Cons

The confidential agreements that come with big projects might make it difficult to publish papers.

      Pros

good work life balance; good pension plan; very friendly colleagues; childcare subsidy; relaxed work atmosphere; access to all Oxford libraries

      Cons

The department I work in is very cosy, laid back, and does not seem to encourage innovation and thinking outside the box or thinking about how we can do the job better. There is a lack of opportunities to move upwards.
