I have been working at PA Consulting Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Strong brand in the market with a diverse range of projects. PA has a great track record in innovation and very good relationships with clients. There is a focus on learning and development of staff.

    Cons

Some efforts to improve culture but this is not consistent across teams and it relies heavily on local leadership. As any other consultancy you will need put in the extra hours outside projects to grow and develop yourself.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in people culture

I worked at PA Consulting Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very good package. Amazing and creative people, some of the best engineers and scientists. Great people to learn from and work with. Projects are most of the time interesting and challenging.

    Cons

The progression towards roles with project management responsibilities is unnecessary slow. For Junior to Midweight people, there is a lot of midweight-senior staff in the queue of career progression and in my experience, you have to join it. Work can get repetitive on some of the big projects.

    Advice to Management

Make the career evolution process more flexible. Make sure to no keep staff too long on the same project. People go for consulting for variety and challenge and young staff is likely to leave when they're put in a niche.

I worked at PA Consulting Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Offices - beautiful People - friendly Office location - great

    Cons

Lack of integrity. Their code of conduct states they strive to: do the" right thing" rather than the "easy thing. I witnessed PA fail when given the opportunity to carry this action out. Possible illegal HR practices.

    Advice to Management

Follow your own code. Support staff who try do "the right thing", and moreover don't punish them. Address climate change. Investigate your employmee dismissal process.

I have been working at PA Consulting Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Marvellous people in P&T. The projects can be really interesting too. Work life balance is infinitely better than the bigger consultancies, so great if you've got kids, pets, are introverted or have ASD (P&T leaders are very understanding and flexible) .

    Cons

The very senior leadership are the very definition of pale, male and stale. They won't even update the archaic maternity policy, despite having it pointed out to them that it's making women leave. I don't think they realise the message it screams to female employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Remember that it's 2019, not 1969. If you hire innovators, learn to use them, not shut them out.
